Roman brooch; Cast copper alloy sawfish, hinged T-shaped brooch, dating to the 1st-2nd centuries. The brooch has flattened, cylindrical wings with a simple incised line around the end of each. The remnants of a loop can be seen extending from the centre top of the brooch. The bow has a fairly shallow curve. There is a shield-shaped stud at the head of the brooch and the bow below the head is decorated with cast relief decoration in a double zig-zag pattern. Roman copper alloy bow brooch, 37mm long, 23mm wide and 12mm thick. The brooch is in fair condition with a green patina and weighs 6.3grams. The brooch is very plain and consists of solid circular sectioned wings which hold the remains of a hinged pin. The bow is circular in section and contains just the traces of a catchplate.

Incomplete copper alloy Polden Hill brooch of flat wing ends type. The brooch has semi-cylindrical wings in cross-section. There is a small hook at the top in the centre that would have secured the now missing spring and pin. The wing terminals are full-rounded and pierced. The front of the wings are decorated with a single vertical groove at either end. The bow is triangular in cross-section and decorated at the top with a 'V'-shaped groove and down the centre by a pair of incised lines. The foot is slightly flattened. The catchplate is intact.

Incomplete cast copper alloy Polden Hill brooch. The brooch has short wings that are semi-cylindrical in cross-section and terminate with pierced end-plates. There is a copper alloy spring held in place via the two pierced plates and also a rearward hook in the centre coming off the top of the bow. The pin is missing. The bow is incomplete, D-shaped in cross-section and decorated with three ribs. The surface of the brooch has been silvered.

Roman copper alloy Hod Hill brooch fragment, 24mm long, 20mm wide and 4mm thick. The brooch is in poor condition with a brown patina and weighs 6.91grams. The object consists of the upper part of the bow. It begins with a circular sectioned shaft which sits above a sub rectangular plate. This has a narrower lower section which is set back slightly giving the fragment an S shaped section. There are traces of a possible raised band running down the centre of the upper half, but otherwsie the object appears plain.

A damaged copper-alloy Roman gilded disc brooch. The decoration consists of a central deep cell surrounded by two ring cells within a raised border. This in turn is surrounded by an outer ring which has traces of gilding surviving, also within a raised border. There are small diagonal dashed lines in the gilded area, like ropework. An incomplete cast copper alloy knee brooch dating to the Roman period. The brooch has a semi-cylindrical spring cover with pierced fully-rounded end caps. The spring is missing. At the top in the centre is a small integral loop. The bow is arched and extends from the base of the spring cover. The bow is decorated with a rib down the centre and what appear to be a row of outward pointing triangular cells to either side. The cells are very worn but appear to have contained enamel, perhaps green in colour though this might be corrosion. The lower part of the brooch is missing.

A complete copper-ally Roman wheel plate brooch. The hinged pin and catch plate are complete and still in working order although the end of the pin is misshapen. The front surface of the brooch is heavily decorated. The brooch has a central pointed boss which has an ornate decoration of 6 sub-oval projections or 'spokes' which radiate outward from the central knob. A Roman copper-alloy knee brooch. The wings are cyldindrical in cross-section and contain a spring. The pin is missing. The bow is wide and arched and has a transverse ridge at the top and the bottom. The lower part of the bow is also wide but concave. The base is flat and the catchplate extends from this on the reverse. This brooch can be classified as a Type 176 under Butcher and Bayley's classification system (Butcher and Bayley 2004, p. 180). Type 176 knee brooches are abundant on the German limes in the period AD 150 to 200 and are also widespread (though not numerous) in Britain.
