Roman copper alloy bow brooch Polden Hill variant / T-shaped type and of late 1st to early 2nd century AD. The brooch is incomplete, missing the leg and pin (with a surviving length of 31.9mm, a surviving depth of 15.7mm and a weight of 15.2g). The brooch has a hinged pin within tubular wings (with a width of 20.8mm and 7.0mm x 6.2mm section) and a copper alloy axis bar. Roman copper alloy bow brooch of Wroxeter type and probably of early-to-mid- 2nd century AD date.
The brooch is incomplete, missing the pin and the end of the leg (with a surviving length of 41.mm, a surviving depth of 17.4mm and a weight of 12.1g). The missing pin was hinged within semi-tubular wings behind the head (12.mm wide). Incomplete copper alloy Roman Colchester Derivative (dolphin) brooch with a hinge mechanism dating to the 1st century AD (c. 50-80AD). The head of the brooch has tubular wings. Traces of the iron axis bar which supports the hinged pin, can been seen. The head is decorated with a series of hatched bands running around the wings. Roman copper alloy bow brooch of Wirral type and of 2nd century AD date
The brooch in incomplete, missing the pin, lower leg and top of the head-plate (with a s length of 42.5mm, a surviving depth of 17.8mm and a weight of 11.2g). The missing pin was hinged between semi-tubular lugs on the rear of the head (with a width of 11.6mm). The lugs and rear of the head has remnants of adhering iron corrosion, suggesting an iron axis bar and/or pin was employed. An incomplete copper alloy bow brooch of the Wirral type Roman period. The object is a hinged example and only the base of the head loop survives. The head has a stepped design, typical of this type. The upper section of the bow is decorated with three vertical cells which may have once areas contained coloured enamelled which no longer survives. The bow curves inwards to taper to the foot. An incomplete and bent copper-alloy trumpet brooch of Roman date, c.75-75AD. The brooch is similar to Hattatt's No. 1529 (1989, p. 326, Fig 185). A small copper alloy Colchester derivative, Polden Hill brooch of Roman date,AD 75-175.
The object is almost complete and would have been a sprung example. The bow is comma-shaped in profile, D-shaped in section, and tapers to an incomplete rounded foot. The wings are semi-cylindrical. The bow rises from the top of the wings sweeping in an arc towards the foot. The outer face of the bow is decorated with a linear ridge which runs down each side.

The brooch is largely complete by missing the lower portion of the pin and the catchplate only. It consists of a curved bulbous head with a pair of cylindrical wings across the reverse. The head of the brooch has the typical oval shape of the trumpet brooch that splays quite widely. Underneath, the head is flat with the remnants of a perforated lug. The probable sprung pin is completely missing. The surface of the head is decorated with a band of relief decoration.

A Roman copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill (Mackreth 2011, Part 3, Group 4.d., hinged, flat wing ends). It appears to have had a hinged pin (now missing) rather than a spring and pin, the catchplate is also missing. The majority of the original surface is lost, although there are the remains of a raised central rib running the length of the bow, decorated with horizontal lines.

Late Iron Age to Early Roman period copper alloy bow brooch of Colchester one-piece type and dating to the 1st century AD
The brooch is near-complete, missing only the pin and is comparatively small with a length of 36.88mm and has a weight of 3.2g. The mount comprises a gold baseplate, slightly crumpled, cut to a curved tapering form with a straight wide end, to fit the recessed cell of a (now missing) gilt bronze or silver penannular or pseudo-penannular brooch. The outer face of the baseplate is decorated with a spherical blue glass bead set in a gold collar, and a pattern of S- and Z-scrolls delineated by beaded wire (filigree) and other motifs (C-scrolls with central scrolled stems) within a plain beaded wire border.
