An incomplete copper-alloy Colchester derivative, Harlow brooch of 1st century AD date. The head has two decorative vertical grooves at each end and a flat underside. At the centre of the underside is a perforated lug into which the now missing axis bar would have fitted. The remaining three coils of the spring are held in place by an external chord which passes through a rearward lug on top of the head. The rearward lug extends downwards into a tapering ridge. An incomplete copper-alloy Colchester type two-piece brooch of 1st century date. The wings have a recessed underside containing four or five coils of the spring. The pin and axis bar are absent and there is a damaged rearward lug. The humped bow is of circular section and tapers to a point at the foot. Extending the length of the bow is a central ridge. Only a remnant of the catchplate survives. The brooch is bent and corroded. The artefact measures 36.6mm long, 24.4mm wide (wings) and 16.9mm deep. The weight is 7.48g.

Roman copper alloy bow brooch, a Colchester derivative, Harlow brooch dating to the first century. The body of the brooch is circular in section, there is a ridge over the head, two flat wings and the remains of a large catchplate. There is a single loop at the back of the head which would have received the hinge, and simple linear decoration on the foot. The hinge and part of the catchplate are missing. The object is in fair condition with a dark green patina. It is 44mm long, 11mm wide at the wings and 19mm thick and weighs 7.29g.

A copper-alloy lugged disc brooch of 2nd century date. The plate is circular in plan and there are eight equally-spaced peripheral lugs. At the centre of the plate is a raised circular boss with a flat surface. The centre of this boss has a lozenge-shaped cell filled with dark blue enamel and the four surrounding pointed-oval cells contain traces of a different colour enamel. Roman copper-alloy Colchester derivative double lug type brooch. The object consists of semi-circular sectioned plain wings which are missing the spring. The bow is rectangular in section ans quite flat, with a wide central ridge running its length. Near the top emerges a further rounded ridge which forms a spring loop at its terminal. The catchplate is triangular in form, has ridged edges and a central circular hole. It is 39mm long, 19mm wide and 12mm thick and weighs 6.23g. The brooch is similar to Hattatt 1458, Pl.156.

An incomplete copper-alloy Dolphin brooch with a missing spring of Roman 1st century (43-65 AD) date. The wings are short and have convex upper surfaces. At the centre of the flat underside is a damaged pierced lug. The spring and pin are missing, apart from a short length of the external chord, which sits within a rearward lug. The humped bow is of oval section and tapers to a point at the foot. The unperforated catchplate is damaged. The brooch measures 30.6mm long, 13mm wide and 13.6mm deep. The weight is 2.43g.

Copper-alloy Dolphin type brooch of mid 1st C. Ad date. Very ornate brooch with moulded decoration. In reasonably good condition, with a dark green patina. Consists of a deep bow with moulded rib and groove decoration running down the back of it. The wings have moulded decoration consisting of a pair of vertical ribs on either side of the bow, each with a rope pattern. Approximately two thirds of a gilded copper-alloy plate brooch of 2nd-3rd C. AD date. Piece is in poor conditon, probably as a result of post-depositional damage. It is oval in shape, the remaining portion measuring 29.1mm long by 25.5mm wide. The border around the inset is divided into two by means of a low rib. A Roman copper-alloy umbonate variant plate brooch. The domed central area of the sub-circular brooch is decorated by a relief-moulded wheel, the spokes of which border five triangular cells. Traces of a whitish enamel inset can be seen in two adjacent cells, but the rest are completely empty.
