The find consists of a disc of copper alloy overlaid by a thick, embossed sheet of silver decorated with raised triangles radiating round a central boss and interspersed with ladder-pattern strips. There is a pierced circular lobe on the edge above the end of the hinge for the pin. The overlay is folded round the sides of the brooch and the back is tinned. The central boss and one or two of the triangles have been crushed in antiquity. D.: 41 mm Wt.: 19.34g Date. Uncertain, but more than 300 years old.
