A complete cast copper alloy double horse-head plate brooch,possibly Roman in date but potentially a modern creation. The brooch has a curved rectangular panel bar that curves downwards and is filled with yellow enamel. The terminals of the bar has three incised grooves within the copper that are reminiscent of an animal's paws. Projecting from the centre of the lower side of the curved bar is a short neck that leads into two opposing horse heads. A cast copper alloy knop, possibly from a brooch. Due to the fact the knop is the only surviving piece, it is not possible to date it. The knop has a circular, flat terminal, which is joined to a spherical central piece. The outer surface of the sphere is coated in corroded iron, suggesting that it was joined to a larger item at this junction. The metal is slightly pitted and is a mid greyish-green colour.

The find consists of a disc of copper alloy overlaid by a thick, embossed sheet of silver decorated with raised triangles radiating round a central boss and interspersed with ladder-pattern strips. There is a pierced circular lobe on the edge above the end of the hinge for the pin. The overlay is folded round the sides of the brooch and the back is tinned. Roman copper alloy plain hinged bow brooch, 26mm long, 22mm wide and 7mm deep. The object is in fair condition with a brown patina and weighs 2.98grams. The brooch has circular sectioned solid wings which sit above the bow at an angle and form a central rectangualr void, presumambly where the hinge fitted. Roman brooch fragment; foot of cast copper alloy (probable) fantail brooch with relief moulding and indication of a loop at the bow. Probably 2nd century, due to its size and elaborate decoration. A similar brooch was found within the same Parish - see BH-86AC02. The brooch is oval in plan and has a raised central cell (also oval) with a double rim around its perimeter. An incomplete copper-alloy Roman Dragonesque brooch. This type of brooch is essentially Celtic in design but is Roman made and continued to be made until the middle of teh 2nd century AD. They are an entirely British type of brooch (Hattatt; 1982; 152). The brooch has a raised surface and a flat back. Two of the heads remain, there would have been three originally. Both the heads are broken, the hole (which represents the eye) is incomplete on both. The semi-circle central part of the brooch represents the body of the dragon and has a circular perforation.

A cast copper alloy Polden Hill brooch of early Roman date. The brooch is very small. The spring is missing, but there is iron staining within the cavity in the wings. The wings are undecorated. The surface of the bow is damaged but appears to have been decorated with four longitudinal incised lines, two probably running the length of the bow, and one on either side of the bow extending roughly half way down. The bow tapers to a point. The catchplate is missing. Dimensions: length 26.02mm, width across wings 18.06mm, width at top of bow 8.9mm and thickness 10.95mm. Weight 4.14g.
