Copper alloy Colchester type Roman brooch. Very simple in style and undecorated. The remains of the catchplate sugests that it was of openwork design. The spring is extant, although the left wing is incomplete. The pin is partial and has been bent at an angle of around 120 degrees towards the left wing.

An incomplete cast and enamelled disc brooch of Roman date, probably second century (AD 100 - AD 200). Length 20.6mm, width 18.3mm and 1.4mm thick. Weight 3.15g. The brooch is flat at the front and circular in plan and the thickness of the plate is 1.4mm. It may originally have had small peripheral lugs. The rim is broken and corroded and none of the lugs have survived, but the stub of one appears to be extant. Copper alloy headstud brooch with a hinge pin (still intact). There is a broken wire headloop above the crossbar; this has been pinched in by a heavy rectangular collar. The collar has the remains of possibly white enamel around three lozenge-shaped bosses. A longitudinal crest is located immediately below the collar and above the headstud which appears as a conical perforation in the bow. Lozenge-shaped blue enamel cells run down the front of the bow, below the headstud. The foot of the brooch is now broken, as is the catchplate.

Roman Brooch: Incomplete Colchester two piece brooch. Cast in copper alloy. The head of the brooch is incomplete, with a break across one of the wings. The surviving wing has vertical mouldings along its length. There is a hooked cord at the top of the head, through which the (incomplete) axis bar of the (incomplete) sprung pin is attached. Roman T-shaped brooch. Cast in copper alloy the brooch has tubular wings decorated with vertical grooves. The hinged pin does not survive. The bow is narrow and curved, with a central ridge decorated with a herringbone pattern. The solid triangular catchplate is intact on the reverse of the lower half of the bow. The brooch has a mid green patina. There is a small patch of corrosion on the wings. It is 70mm long.

Incomplete Roman Hod Hill brooch. Dating from the 1st century AD. Cast in copper alloy with possible traces of tinning on the surface. The rolled over hinge is broken, with the axis bar and pin missing. The sub-rectangular bow has worn and broken edges. The wide, rectangular bow is decorated with four vertical mouldings. The area above the bow are two horizontal mouldings bordering a slightly depressed area. There is a break at the base of the bow, with the foot and catchplate missing. The surviving section of the brooch is 21mm long.

Copper alloy headstud brooch, dating to the second century. The head of the brooch shows the attachment of a hinge pin, now missing. The crossbar has three sub-rectangular cells to either side of the bow, probably for taking enamel. The bow also has sub-rectangular cells for enamel; these become gradually smaller as they approach the foot of the brooch. The last cell, approximately 25mm above the foot, is in the shape of an inverted spear-head. The foot knob is undecorated. On the reverse of the object, the catchplate is present, but incomplete.

A copper alloy disc brooch with blue and red enamel/glass decoration. The face of the object has a raised outer rim encircling a sunken field of blue enamel or glass. In this field are circle-dot motifs comprised of raised metal rims around a band of red enamel and a central raised, metal boss. At the centre of the face of the brooch is a raised rim surrounding a sunken field of which the colour is now gone. The reverse of the object has two lugs providing the hinge-pivot, both corroded, and the remains of the catchplate, also corroded.

Cast copper alloy disc brooch from the Roman period. The disc is divided into six equal segments by lines extending from the centre. There are twelve peripheral knobs, one at the end of each of the dividing lines and one halfway between each of these.The knobs are worn, some almost entirely. Each segment is enamelled with a circular area left plain. Two opposing segments have been decorated with a pale yellow/white enamel, whilst the remaining four are a dark blue. On the reverse the spring is extant, along with part of the pin. The catchplate has broken, and only a stub remains.

Copper alloy Headstud brooch, dating to 75-200 AD. The wings are cylindrical and hold the hinged pin. The headstud is a raised rosette with traces of red enamel in the the fluting at the sides.
