A fragment of a copper alloy Colchester derivative brooch dating to the first century AD. The fragment comprises the head and a small portion of the bow. The head possesses two flat semi-circular wings behind which the spring mechanism is concealed. Only a small portion of the spring coils remains; a corroded overhead chord is secured with an overhead hook. The head extends to a hemispherical section bow which is broken. The fragment measures 26mm in length and 23mm in width.

A copper alloy Colchester type two piece brooch dating to the first century AD. The head of the brooch comprises two wings which are rectangular in plan and hemispherical in section. There is an overhead chord held in place by a perforated lug on the head. The spring mechanism and pin are intact. The head extends to a D section bow with a prominent central rib running its length. A copper alloy dolphin brooch dating to the first century AD. The brooch has a head which comprises of two cylindrical wings and a recess to accomodate the hinged pin. Both the axis bar and pin are missing. The head extends to an extremely humped D section bow. The bow tapers to a point. The catchplate is triangular and possesses a circular perforation. The brooch measures 45mm in length and 36mm in width.

The object possesses a flat rectangular plate, perhaps intended to represent wings, from which a crude, D section tapering bow extends. There is no spring mechanism, pin or catchplate and no obvious means by which these could have been attached. The object measures 35mm in length and 21mm in width.

A copper-alloy and enamelled Dragonesque brooch dating from the Early Roman period. The brooch is 33.2mm long, 18.5mm wide and 4.4mm thick. The foot is missing but the rest of the brooch is in very good condition. There is red enamel on the “ears”, blue enamel in the centre of the “eye” with a ring of damaged, possibly originally red enamel round it. A copper alloy Headstud brooch from the early Roman period. The brooch is almost complete with just part of the pin, the headloop and the turnover of the catchplate missing. The brooch is 58.2mm long, 23.1mm wide and 13.9mm thick. It has a sprung pin with five coils of the spring on each side of the central spring loop. The loop continues on to the head of the brooch where it forms a narrow crest which stands proud of the head, leaving an arch underneath. Only about quarter of the length of the pin survives. A copper alloy Roman bow brooch which probably dates from the first century AD. The brooch is 38.2mm long, 19.5mm wide and 6.9mm thick. It may be a Dolphin or Hod Hill type. The brooch has a gently curving bow which is decorated with two vertical grooves which are filled with a reddish material likely to be a form of corroded metal. A worn copper alloy bow and fantail brooch, complete but for the pin and possibly a loop springing from the wings. The arched bow splays out into a sub-triangular foot on which there is a raised pattern This consists of a diamond above an arc which curls in towards the centre at each end. The remains of the catch plate are on the reverse of this. Similar 1st-2nd century examples can be seen in Hattatt (2000 p 315)

The pin was on a spring mechanism held by a rearward hook over the chord. The hook is still present but the pin and the spring are missing. The back of the bow is flat and the front decoration is moulded. The top half of the bow is made up of two domes. The bow then widens to the lower bow which is almost lozenge shaped. The pin was sprung and attahced to the head by an axial bar to a single lug. The lug is present but has broken and the pin and its spring are missing. The head of the brooch is a circular shape. The brooch has a mid-bow double flange. The bow narrows to a small rounded foot which is separated from the bow by 2 lines around its circumference.

A 2nd century cast copper alloy disc brooch. The brooch is flat and circular. The surface has largely been lost due to wear and corrosion. The front of the brooch has been decorated with a ring and dot in the centre with lines radiating out from the centre. These fields then appear to have been inlaid with enamel, must of the enamel has now been lost. A Roman copper alloy disc brooch with six lobes and enamelled decoration. The brooch appears to have been cast in one piece.
