A medieval gold annular (ring) brooch, circular in shape, terminating in two clasped hands. It has two inscribed facets punctuated by colons with a quatrefoil flower at the base and centre right. Reading clockwise from the pin, the letters (on the inner band) are V O : V O and (on the outer band) V O ? : V O L. The pin is plain with a beaded collar. The clasped hands may once have held a pearl or a gem, now lost. The reverse of the brooch is flat and plain. Comparable brooches are 2006 T119 and 2007 T389. A gold and gem medieval brooch of 12th century date. The brooch is annular, circular in plan with eight raised collets set equally spaced around the frame. Each collet contains a gem of alternating garnets and sapphires. Between each gem is a raised boss with punched decoration and surmounted by an open fruit pod. Both the internal and external edge of the frame is beaded. The pod with seeds within and the remains of the flower beyond it, most probably represents the fruit of the broom.
