Medieval gold annular framed brooch with pin set within a constriction and set at right angles to a projection in the form of clasped hands, On the front of the round-sectioned frame on either side of the springing of the hands there is a set of four transverse grooves. The D-sectioned pin is triangular. It tapers, from a brambled collar on the convex front face next to the loop, with straight sides to a point. One hand is badly cracked across the wrist. Length 16.7mm. Diameter 9.4mm. Diameter of cross-section 1.2mm. Weight 1.04g. 13th century - early 14th century.

A gold annular brooch dating to the 13th - 14th centuries. The brooch is circular with a D-shaped cross section. The reverse is flat and the upper face convex. The frame has a constriction for the pin placed at 12 o'clock with the inscription starting at 1 o'clock. The front has incised letters in capitals reading IESVICIY or IESVICIR. The interior side of the frame is decorated with punched rings. The pin is an elongated triangle which is curled around the constriction forming the attachment loop. Description: Tiny gold annular brooch with circular frame. Most of the frame is circular in cross-section, but it is interrupted by a pin constriction and by four equally spaced collars which encircle the frame and which are decorated all around with relief pellets made using an annulet punch; these are usually known as 'brambled' bosses. Pin missing.

Medieval gold annular brooch. Flat-sectioned frame with two opposed oval collets which taper towards the top, one containing a purple cabochon stone, probably amethyst or garnet, the other a blue cabochon, perhaps a sapphire. There is a flanged transverse ridge on the upper face at either side of the narrowing for the cast pin. The pin is D-sectioned, with a half round segmented collar next to the loop. Description: Small gold annular brooch of medieval date, with inscription. The frame is circular with a triangular cross-section, flat and undecorated on the reverse. The inner angle of the front is decorated with a groove within which is a line of fine, neat beading; under a lens it can be seen that this has been stamped, as each bead is surrounded by a slight upstanding circle. The outer angle has an inscription in seriffed capitals which is not immediately readable, and is discussed below.

Description: Small gold annular brooch with pin constriction and projecting clasped hands. The circular frame is mainly triangular in cross-section, but this is interrupted by the pin constriction at 12 o'clock, the clasped hands at 3 o'clock, and two quatrefoil flower bosses at 6 o'clock and 9 o'clock. The pin constriction has a tiny transverse ridge to either side.
