An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman horse brooch. The brooch is in the shape of a stylised horse with Romano-British styled decoration in the form of blocks of enamel, but has a realistic shaped head, if slightly simplified. The head has a circular cell representing an eye. There is a moulded mane, but with no fine detail of the hair, instead there is a slender cell which was originally filled with enamel, and is further decorated with fine obliquely angled ridges along on the upper edge of the cell. An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman Wroxeter brooch. The wings/bow head is an inverted 'D' shape which has an integral plate protruding from the upper edge. The plate is off-set has an abraded upper edge which probably originally had a perforation. The reverse of the bow head is hollow and has an integral lug at either side, with a circular perforation. Roman (mid 1st to 2nd century) brooch: The lower portion of the bow remains. The bow is broken at the upper edge which is at the approximate midpoint of the bow. The break is not a recent. The bow tapers to a slightly expanded foot. On the reverse of this portion of the bow there is a complete catchplate. The surface of the brooch has an abraded patina. The brooch measures 21.13mm in length, 3.79mm in width across the upper edge and weighs 1.35g. The brooch is a Colchester derivative. It probably dates to the mid-1st to second centuries.

A cast copper alloy Roman brooch. The wings are tubular with a ā€˜Dā€™ shaped section. The vertical face is the front of the wings. The upper edge of the vertical face is slightly abraded and therefore may not represent the original edge. On the reverse the wings have a transverse slot which reveals the copper alloy axis bar.
