The upper portion of a hinged bow brooch of Headstud type; very abraded. The pin, now lost, was originally held on a copper alloy bar in a closed cylindrical casing. There is a raised element at the head, recalling the hooks on sprung versions of the type; the top of the bow is apparently plain above the stud, which would have been enamelled. The lower part of the brooch is lost. The width of the brooch is 19mm and the width of the surviving upper part of the bow is 9.5mm.

A Roman plate brooch of umbonate type. The pin and most of the catchplate on the concave reverse are missing. On the front one of the original four circumferential projections is missing. The decoration consists of two concentric circles of triangular recesses inlaid with blue enamel, which survives quite well. The central circular depression apparently had no inlay. The depth of the brooch is 6mm, the maximum depth is 10.5, and the original width was c25mm. The spring and pin are missing.

A Roman copper-alloy lozenge-shaped plate brooch. The brooch has four projecting terminals, although one side projection is now missing. It is 36mm long and 25mm wide. A Hod Hill-type brooch, the spring and pin are both missing together with the two side lugs. The bow is decorated with a complicated series of transverse parallel ribs and flutings. On the bow is a rectangular expansion with similar ribs, and flutings which alternate between thick and thin, arranged at 90 degrees to those on the bow. The raised ribs on the expansion have faint transverse notched ornamentation. On the wide flutings on both bow and expansion are well-preserved white metal surfaces.

A late Roman cast copper alloy P-shaped brooch with a separate iron bar on which are attached a copper alloy spring and a pair of copper alloy terminals. The brooch has a flat tapering bow which has been extensively decorated with punched lines and circles. Similar decoration extends onto the catchplate which is bent upwards, and then the tapering tail of the catchplate has been secured by winding it around the base of the bow. A fragment of a copper alloy Roman Polden Hill brooch of Mackreth 2011, Chapter 3, Part 3, CD PH 5.a4. The fragment comprised the spring and hinge together with the arms and a portion of the bow, which is decorated with moulded ridges in the form of a central ridge with three narrow ridges to each side. The pin and catchplate are missing. It is 21.7mm in length. Dating late 1st century AD.

A Roman copper-alloy Colchester derivative, double-lugged, Harlow brooch, There are two pierced lugs for a spring which is lost along with the pin. It is 34.6mm in length, complete with part of its catchplate. The bow is undecorated, the arms at 15.5mm wide are short; however this is probably due to post depositional damage as the brooch demonstrates considerable abrasion. Circa 43-100 AD.

A fragment of a copper alloy Roman Colchester derivative, hinged brooch, comprising a stump of the bow, traces of a headloop and the copper alloy hinged pin, which itself is 32.4mm in length and narrows from around 2.3 to 0.7mm thick. The head of the brooch has very narrow shoulders, 12.5mm wide, with a copper alloy hinge spindle. The brooch is decorated with a moulded ridge vertically down the bow and a pair of incised diagonal lines across the shoulders. Circa late 1st - 2nd Century AD.

A fragment of a Roman copper alloy bow brooch, comprising the foot and perhaps a 2/3 portion of the bow, of 38.6mm in total. The bow is narrow, 3.6mm wide and straight with no decoration and a round to plano-convex profile. The catchplate is openwork in style with a single large triangular cutaway. 1st -mid 2nd century AD.

A copper alloy Roman brooch, Maxey bow and fantail type dating to AD 50-150 with a tinned surface. Complete with catchplate and spring but missing pin. The wings are semi-cylindrical and undecorated and a double pierced lug holds the axis bar and spring cord. The bow has three parallel ridges along the spine. The foot flares out to 10.8mm wide, has a moulded linear border surrounding an inner border of dot decoration and joins the bow at a moulded transverse ridge. As Hattatt (2000), p314. Very similar examples on the database include SF-CB0147.
