A gilded early Saxon saucer brooch. The brooch comprises a central boss with swastika-leg motif surrounded by two concentric circles, with an outer field of 'egg-and-tongue' motifs. The swastika leg motif suggests devolved Salin's Style I. The pin fixing is broken and corrosion suggests that the pin was of iron. The brooch is in fine condition though missing the pin and with some damage to the catchplate. It is quite possible that it has been recently moved by the plough from an underlying interment.
