A cast copper alloy Roman Colchester-derivative double-pierced lug brooch. The outer wings both have simple roll mouldings. The bow is slightly bent back and the spring and pin are missing. Centrally on the bow is an inscribed X which sits between a double and a single incised transverse line.

A cast copper alloy Roman gilded disc brooch; the central glass inlay is missing. The missing inlay sat at the centre of a pair of concentric recesses, both with repeating punched S forms at their bases. The edges of the brooch are very worn as are the hinge and catchplate. The pin is also missing.

A cast copper alloy Roman plate brooch with projecting face, of probable 2nd century date. The central element is a slightly rounded square with a projection at each corner. Each projection contains a hollow for an enamel inlay; two inlays of blue enamel survive. Centrally within the brooch is an oval projection, hollowed behind, which has been engraved in the form of a human face, projecting towards the viewer. The face is set on a rounded projection. The lower part of a Roman cast copper alloy bow brooch of probable Colchester two-piece type dating from cAD43-c100.. Part of the bow and the catch-plate survive; the catchplate is pierced by a triangular aperture. There is a groove running down the centre line of the spine.

A copper-alloy Roman brooch of Colchester derivative Harlow type CD Ha 4., missing its pin. The head has two pierced lugs and semi-cylindrical wings covering a coiled spring and axis bar through the lower pierced lug. The upper lug holds the spring chord. The bow is curved, with plano convex or triangular cross section, ending in a point foot and a triangular catch plate. The spine of the bow has a dorsal ridge. Circa 50-70 AD.

An incomplete Roman cast copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill type, complete with pin, spring and mechanism, but missing the foot and catchplate. The head has cylindrical wings with moulded ridges around the shoulders and end caps which hold a copper alloy spindle around which are the rusted remains of an iron spring. The bow is narrow, undecorated and sub-rounded in cross section. Circa AD 70-175 AD.

An incomplete late Iron Age or early Roman cast copper alloy brooch of rosette derivative or thistle form dating from the first century AD. The wings are semi-cylindrical and partially enclose the spring, which has an iron axial bar. The pin is lost. The bow is strongly arched and has a plano-convex profile. It is infilled with rusted iron. The plate is circular and decorated with moulded concentric lines around the junction to the bow; it then tapers to the foot with at least three parallel ridges running along it. The underside of the plate retains a stump of the catchplate.

An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman brooch, probably of Developed T-shaped of T110 the Polden method of securing the spring and chord. The arms are cylindrical with end caps pierced to hold the axis bar and spring (now lost) and open on the underside. There is a chord retention hook on the front of the head. The bow is sharply angled back from a projecting neck which has moulded ridged shoulders and has a flat cross section with two parallel recessed grooves running along the spine. The lower portion of the bow is missing. Circa mid 1st to mid 2nd century AD.

A fragment of a medieval, probably 13th century, silver-gilt annular brooch. All that survives is part of the narrow frame and a separately-attached lozengiform plate. The plate is decorated with two concentric ridged frames and has a central quatrefoil with a raised pellet on each leaf

A fragment of an early Anglo-Saxon copper-alloy saucer brooch. No original edges survive. Part of the animal-inspired chip-carved Style I ornament is visible within a broad curving outer border. There is a mask with two eyes and a conjoined relief brow and nose and moustache, next to a leg; this combination is also found on a saucer brooch from Cassington, Oxfordshire (Dickinson 2002, fig. 11a). A raised inner border surrounds a radial relief inner zone of which very little survives.

An Early Medieval copper-alloy small-long brooch. The brooch has a cruciform-type rectangular head with two small side projections, which might once have been side knobs, and a triangular top knob whose edges continue down onto the headplate to form a raised central panel. The narrow arched bow has a rectangular-section area right at the top, but is mainly pentagonal in cross-section.
