A fragment of an early Anglo-Saxon copper-alloy saucer brooch. No original edges survive. Part of the animal-inspired chip-carved Style I ornament is visible within a broad curving outer border. There is a mask with two eyes and a conjoined relief brow and nose and moustache, next to a leg; this combination is also found on a saucer brooch from Cassington, Oxfordshire (Dickinson 2002, fig. 11a). A raised inner border surrounds a radial relief inner zone of which very little survives.
