An incomplete enamelled copper alloy Roman plate brooch. less than half of the deep crescentic (or 'pelta') shaped plate survives. This is slightly concave, curving towards the reverse in profile. A short point projects from the centre of the upper edge and a wider, rounded section from the centre of the lower edge. Traces of enamelled decoration can be seen on the outer face, but this is hevaily corroded and now is largely retricted to a central longitudinal line of lozenges and a transverse row of cresents along the lower edge. The remains of a hinged double-lug pin fitt…

A possibly silver brooch, circular in shape measuring 17mm in diameter. The front face has a decorated boarder of horizontal lines, crosses and foliage. It also has circular knobs protruding from its edge, not all of which are now surviving. The centre of the front face is depresses and flat and it seems likely that something may have been inlaid in this central circle which is now missing. The back face is flat and undecorated. The pin is missing. This brooch is likely to be post-medieval and possibly 18th century in date.

One half of the frame is wider and hollow, as seen by a small area of damage on its underside, it is oval in section and the front face has small nicks covering it, presumably representing scales. This wider half terminates with a loop, the terminal of which curves away from the frame and is in the shape of a large snake's head, with small pointed ears, circular indentations for eyes and a groove for a mouth. The hands have grooves indicating the fingers and thumbs and are pressed tightly together as if in prayer. The frame has a flat back face and is triangular in section, the front face has inscribed possible letters along the outer edge, which all appear to resemble the letter 'I' the significance of which is unclear, there are two star motifs between these letters, one is opposite the constriction for the pin and the other opposite the clasped hands. A fragment of a silver Medieval annular brooch. It is approximately half of a flat circular brooch frame, incomplete due to old breaks. The frame has an external diameter of 18.18mm, is 3.08mm in width, c.0.6mm in thickness and weighs 0.37g. On one surface there is an engraved inscription in bold capital letters, reading AIDE MEI M (or possibly AEDE MEI M). The letters are based upon the outer edge of the brooch rather than the more normal inner. The reverse is undecorated. The inscription should probably be read as Help Me M[ary] in French. Silver annular brooch in the shape of an asymmetric heart. Near the apex, the left-hand side (as you look at it) has a small reverse curve so that the point is offset to the left. The frame is D-shaped in section, 2 mm wide and 1 mm thick. There is a pin constriction towards the top of the right-hand side, which retains a 22 mm long silver pin with similar D-shaped section and a tightly curled-over loop. Although the shape is unusual (and rather sentimental-looking?) the brooch must be medieval in date because of the method of constructing and attaching the pin.

Silver annular brooch. The frame is circular, 22 mm in diameter, and circular in section, nearly 2 mm in diameter. There is no decoration on the frame and it is fractured at one point. The pin is also silver, and oval in section. The loop has been made by splitting the end of the pin in half down the middle and bending both halves around the frame. One half has been cut off short so that they overlap on one face but not the other. On the overlapping half, halfway down the pin is a tiny flattened area with 5 transverse ribs. This could be decoration, but is so small and insignificant (…

Small silver annular brooch. The frame is circular, 17 mm in diameter and just over 2 mm wide, and is flat on one face and slightly rounded on the other. It is decorated on the rounded face with two lines of zigzag engraving forming a row of lozenges; the engraving is made by rocking the tool very slightly to and fro. There is a pin constriction on which a silver pin survives; this has a transverse ridge at the junction between the wrapped-around loop and the tapering shaft.

Each of these is decorated with circular punch marks. The frame has a rectangular pin constriction; the pin is attached to this via an open loop.
