Copper alloy Iron Age Aucissa brooch. The forward rolled head has significant iron corrosion in the loop probably from the axis bar holding the remnant of the hinged pin. The deeply arched bow has a D-shaped section with a wide mid-rib flanked by moulded or die wrought flanges. Towards the foot the bow narrows and straightens to form the catchplate, the end of which is damaged and shows no evidence of an attached knop. Circa 75-25 BC (Mackreth vol1 p130).

Incomplete and corroded cast copper alloy late Iron Age or Roman brooch, probably a Colchester type or derivative. The arched-section wings that covered the spring form a 'T' shape at the head of the brooch. The 'D' section bow rises from the head and narrows in a taper, arching down to the missing catchplate at the foot of the bow. At the head of the bow is a broken hook that probably formed part of the first coil of the spring which together with the pin is now missing. Circa 1st century AD. Copper alloy cast Medieval annular brooch with pin. There are eight circular blind collets spaced evenly around the periphery of the brooch, several of which are still set with what is probably green glass. Between each of the collets the frame is decorated with four radial moulded ridges. The frame is narrowed to accommodate the pin which broadens in the centre to house another collet. The hinged end of the pin that loops around the frame is decorated with three longitudinal moulded ridges which terminate at a raised transverse collar. Copper alloy fragment probably the remains of Iron Age to Roman bow brooch. The fragment consists of a thin (1.12mm thick), 50.24mm long strip of metal that tapers linearly in width to form a narrow triangle. The widest end curves over in a loop at the shoulder but there is no remnant of spring coils. The thinner terminal end is damaged and contorted but is probably the remains of the catchplate. The strip is decorated down its centre-line with several parallel lines and grooves in low relief. The form suggests it could possibly be a bow segment of a Nauheim or Nauheim derivative brooc…
