Roman copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative Polden Hill (flat wing ends type), cf. Mackreth 2011, 4.l. pg. 74, Plate 48. It is 51mm long, 18mm wide and 11mm deep. The object is in fair condition with a brown patina and weighs 8.83grams. The brooch has short hollow wings with a semi-circular hole to hold a spring bar. Part of the spring mechanism sits above the centre of the wings. It has a long sub-rectangular sectioned bow. Half of its surface is taken up with a raised line which terminates in a raised chevron so it resembles an arrow. Where the decoration on the front ends, the catchplate begins on the reverse. The catchplate is intact and tapers outwards gently until it forms a rolled 'catch' 15mm long. The brooch appears to be missing a spherical terminal at this point as it ends abruptly.

Roman copper alloy rosette brooch fragment, 27mm long, 23mm wide and 3mm thick The object is in poor condition with a green patina and weighs 5.45grams. The object is sub circular and very worn. At its upper edge there is a tapering and curved protrusion, with a crescent section, which emerges at 90 degrees from the surface. Below this is a crescent shape which is decorated with four triangular depressions, which would have contained enamel. Below them is a band with uneven rectangular depressions. The rest of the plate is plain and it tapers to a point (which may be the result of wear) directly opposite the raised protrusion. The reverse is plain and the plate has a crack in its surface near its edge.
