Fragment of brooch The head of Roman trumpet brooch made of copper alloy. It consists of a short section of the bow which flares into the oval shaped trumpet-like head. A protrusion on the flat side of the head could be the stump of an attachment loop. There is red/brown patination surrounding the stump suggesting the possibility of an iron fastening pin, while the stump itself is corroded green. The rest of the patina is light brown, with patches of green.

This is a cast, copper alloy object that is probably Roman and may be a fragment of a brooch. The object is discoid but has a projection to one side, from which it has clearly broken off a larger item. The break is worn. On one side the disc is dished with a raised centre; it is possible that there was once enamel in the channel surrounding this. The projection also looks decorative and may also have been enamelled. The other side of the object is flat, with a circular feature in the centre of the disc that may evidence of a fixing for a pin or lug. The disc is 10mm diameter.
