The fragment has a flat undecorated portion of the headplate with an integral side or top knop protruding from the edge. An incomplete cast copper-alloy applied saucer brooch of the Anglo-Saxon period. Only the baseplase, central stud, and pin fittings remain. The baseplate is circular, but with minor chipping to the edges. The baseplate is very slightly concave. The stud is roughly hour-glass shaped, with a flat top and flat base. The top is 7.27mm in diameter and the stud 9mm in height from base to top. A small shank on the base of the stud fits through a perforation in the baseplate and has been possibly soldered to the base plate, though corrosion obscures this. Extending to either side of the stud …

The terminal and a short length of the arm of a cast copper alloy penannular brooch of early-medieval date. Less than half of the brooch survives and the pin is missing. The surviving fragment measures 17.1mm in length and weighs 4.6g. The polyhedral terminal measures 10.3mm by 9.1mm by 6.7mm. It has thirteen sides: five lozenges interpersed with smaller triangles. There is no trace of any decoration. The arm's cross-section is oval. The polyhedral terminal fits into Fowler's Type G; however, this example does not have a ribbed hoop. The dating of this type of brooch is problematic, b…

A cast copper-alloy annular brooch of the Anglo-Saxon period.
The brooch is flat and rectangular in section, with the width of the ring measuring 8.78mm. There is a pin restriction to take a pin, now lost. However, the restriction retains some iron corrosion. The crossbar measures 2.85mm wide and 3mm in length. It is inset from the outer edge by approximately 3mm and inset from the inner edge ny 1.5mm. Corrosion in the area of the pin restriction makes these measurements tentative, however. There is also limited iron corrsion on the brooch opposite the pin restriction, includi…

A cast copper-alloy cruciform brooch of the Anglo-Saxon period, dating to the mid 6th century.
The brooch is nearly complete, missing only the pin, though the top and base are corroed in situ in the pin fitting and catchplate, respectively. Some textile may also be preserved by the iron corrosion of the pin between the pin and the underside of the head plate.
The brooch can be separated into three primary elements which will be described in turn: the headplate, the bow, and the foot. For purposes of description, the brooch is oriented with the headplate at the top.
The headpla…
