A late medieval copper alloy English Jetton that has been reused as a brooch or dress fitting. A lozenge shaped plate of copper alloy has been riveted to the centre of the reverse of the jetton, allowing to be used as a hooked tag. Both ends of the plate are pointed and curled over to form a hook; one end is curled beneath and the other to the front. This reworked jetton fits with the well known tradition of converting coins into jewellery in the 13th and 14th centuries. A copper alloy brooch dating from the medieval period. The brooch is unusual as it has been made by reusing an early to mid-14th century English jetton (c.AD 1300 - 1350). A large looped hook has attached to the reverse of a jetton, enabling it to be hung or pinned onto a garment.

A complete copper alloy jetton of medieval date, reused as a brooch or dress hook. The jetton is an English sterling bust issue of Edward I (1272 - 1307). The obverse depicts a crowned bust facing forward with a border of alternating strokes and rosettes. The reverse depicts a single stranded cross fleury with expanded ends, with a star or crescent within each quarter, within a border of alternating strokes and rosettes.
