An incomplete Late Iron Age/ Early Roman (AD 25-60/70) copper alloy Strip-Bow brooch, missing part of the catchplate and the shank of the pin. It measures 51.82mm in length and weighs 5.3g. The wingspan is 13.68mm. The wings curl backwards to hold the axis bar - traces of surviving corrosion suggest this was of iron. At the centre is a slot for the pin, with the head and top of the shaft now corroded in place. The bow is 9.32mm wide where it extends from the wings. It narrows to 6.67mm wide at the center of the bow, and then further to 0.56mm at the foot. The worn catchplate exten…

The central part of the bow survives, decorated with four longitudinal ridges with grooves between. The grooves flanking that in the centre appear to feature incised wrigglework in the usual zig-zag form. The artefact has broken at one end of the bow, presumably as it transitioned into the head.
