Incomplete Roman copper alloy dolphin brooch missing the lower bow, pin and catchplate of 1st century AD. It measures 20mm in length and 19mm across the wingspan. It weighs 4.1g. The brooch has three coils either side of the central ridge which creates the 'hump' at the top of the brooch and extends to where there is an incised lateral line above an old break in the bow. The bow is otherwise undecorated. Incomplete Roman copper alloy dolphin brooch missing part of one wing and the lower bow and catchplate. It is also missing its spring mechanism and pin. To the reverse of the wings and hump of bow is a damaged integral double-pierced projecting lug. The surviving wing-span is 23.4mm. It would have originally been c.28mm. A worn and incomplete Roman cast plate brooch of 2nd-century date. This flat brooch has an annular body with circular open centre (Dia.: 8.9mm). At the cardinal points are four protrusions which have suffered differing levels of abrasion. On the lower surface on the two complete, opposing protrusions are, respectively, the abraded catch-plate and the perforated, semi-circular double pin lug. A fragment of Roman copper alloy Aucissa brooch (AD 43-70), consisting of the wings and upper bow only. It measures 24.28mm in length and weighs 1.51g. The wingspan is 10.12mm, and the wings curve forwards to hold the axis bar (still visible). A rectangular hole in the middle is for the (missing) pin. A fragment of copper alloy and enamel Roman (AD 50-175) T-shape brooch with half-acanthus 'trumpet style' button. It consists of the (damaged) button and part of the upper bow only. All enamel decoration is now missing. The fragment measures 17.44x9.85x4.47mm and weighs 2.2g. The upper bow is parallel sided and flat (9.80mm wide) and slightly curving in cross-section. Fragment of Roman copper alloy Aesica brooch, consisting of the Polden Hill spring mechanism, head and upper bow only. It is 16.2mm in length and weighs 3.49g. The cylindrical head houses six coils and the chord rests on the top of the bow. The head measures 14.3mm in width. The circular side lugs of the polden Hill type hold the ?iron axis bar in place. Roman Dophin brooch of copper alloy with a spring mechanism. Apart from the spring mechanism and pin it is complete and in excellent condition covered in a pale green patina. It measures 49x30mm and weighs 13.09g. The spring mechanism was held in the dounble perforated lug and protected by the long arms that curved around the spring. A silvered copper alloy Roman light crossbow brooch dating to the period c. AD 320 - 410. The brooch is missing the tip of one wing and the pin. A fragment of a Roman openwork annular brooch, possibly the circumference of a variant of the Wheel or Disc brooch. It consists of part of the curving frame with two pairs of projecting lugs and the hinge mechanism to the reverse. It measures 26.33x12.49x11.74mm and weighs 3.3g. Incomplete copper alloy Roman dolphin brooch, missing its pin, lower bow and catchplate. It has a rearward-facing double-pierced lug with the remains of an iron axis bar in the lower piercing. The wing span is 19.7mm. They are C-shaped in section and one of the ends is damaged. The other end has a decorative vertical groove flanking it. The bow rises from the top of the double pierced lug, above the wings. Here it is oval in section (4.3x6mm). It narrows over 21.4mm to 2.7x3mm, at the break. Equal ended type plate brooch of copper alloy from the 2nd century. The brooch is an extended oval. It has a rim around the edge and an integrally cast high molded rectangular bridge across the centre. From the tips to the central raised area in each half is a bronze strip which widens towards the raised area. Surrounding these strips are the remanents of blue enamel. The pin is missing.
