A very worn and corroded copper-alloy object, possibly a Colchester type brooch of Roman date. It has a cylindrical body, tapering at one end (top?) to a curving and pointed hook, probably missing its tip due to old breaks. At the opposite end the body tapers, bends outwards to an angle of 90 degrees before eventually narrowing to a pointed tip. The brooch is circular in shape with a flat section, it is almost complete apart from the pin which has broken part way down. The upper surface of the brooch is too eroded and concreted to be able to identify any diagnostic decoration. A fragment of a very worn plate brooch of unbomate type and 2nd century in date. A fragment of the outer edge survives and the rest is missing deut to old breaks, now worn. The fragment measures 19.48mm by 11.39mm in size. Around the edge of the front face there are triangular cells filled with decayed enamel. On the back face a double pin lug survives. Both faces have active powdery green corrosive products visible.

The pin was on a spring mechanism held by a rearward hook over the chord. The hook is still present but the pin and the spring are missing. A copper alloy disc brooch dating to the second century AD. The brooch comprises a flat circular plate which has been divided into three cells, two outer ring shaped cells and an inner circular cell. There are remnants of degraded enamel in the ring shaped cells. It is green in the outer one and red in the inner one. On the underside of the plate are the remains of a catchplate and a semi-circular perforated pin lug with remnants of a corroded pin attached. The brooch has a diameter of 30mm.

The lower bow and foot of a copper-alloy Roman, 3rd century AD crossbow brooch, most similar to Hattatt no 101. Measuring 44.14mm in surviving length and 4.57mm in width. The bow is roughly D-shaped in section with a flat inner face and central longitudinal ridge. At its base there is a transverse moulded semi-circular projection and below this a less pronounced bulge. The foot is U-shaped in section and tapers to a rounded point, the back face is hollow to accmodate the pin, and the catchplate is now fragmentary due to old breaks. Copper alloy brooch, Trumpet type with enamelled wings giving a fly shape. Missing pin; damaged catchplate, corroded surfaces and margin. The pin was sprung between two pierced lugs on the edges of the head which is hollowed, the copper-alloy spring survives and has five coils. The wings contain blue enamel. The footknob appears to be a plain sphere rather than lobed to form an insect head but is corroded. Length 37.12mm, width (wingtips) 17.38mm. A copper-alloy fragment of a probable penannular brooch, one terminal and part of the ring now survives, the rest is missing due to an old break. The ring is flat and there are slight traces of possible incised decoration on the upper face, the surviving terminal is coiled and twisted so it is at right angles to the plane of the ring. It is similar to example from Colchester which are classified as Flowers type C (Crummy 1983, 18, fig 16). The fragment measures 26.68mm in length and the ring is 3.10mm in width, if complete tthis ring wuld have an external diameter of c4cm.

The brooch is flat and has a recessed circular centre with concentric circles within it and a hole through its centre. Around the edge of the central circle there are incomplete projections, they have a white metal coating and a border of tiny circular indentations, fragmentary remains of five projections survive, one has the double lug on its back face and a fragment of a copper-alloy pin is held in this. This brooch measures 21.92mm in surviving diameter.

A copper-alloy Aesica 1st century Roman brooch brooch, incomplete as missing spring and pin only. Very similar to Hattat example 1474 (Hattatt 1989, 310, fig 169, no 1474). This brooch has semi-cylindrical wings, which are decorated with transverse grooves, there is a rear hook, which is a continuation of the bow, over the centre of the wings. The upper bow has two pronounced ribs and flares into a lozenge shaped body with three triangular ridges across it. A copper alloy Roman bow brooch fragment. It is part of a Colchester derivative brooch with double lug, dating to the first century AD. It consists of the semi-cylindrical wing case, broken lug and the upper bow only. The bow is D-shaped with the lug becoming the central rib which widens and flattens out. The fragment measures 17.03mm in width across the wings and 17.71mm in surviving length. It weighs 2.04g. See Blagg et al, 2004, no.88 for a similar example from Hatcheston, Suffolk.

A copper alloy Roman catchplate from a bow brooch, probably a Colchester derivative type, AD 43-100. It consists of the bottom part of the bow which is D-shaped but becoming triangular towards it base, and a triangular-shaped catchplate. There is a large perforation in the centre, and the outer edge is folded in. The fragment measures 25mm in surviving length and is 12.15mm at its widest point. It tapers to 5.63mm at its foot and weighs 4.03g. It resembles examples illustrated from Hacheston in Blagg et al 2004, fig.64, nos.91 and 105.

Roman (2nd century) incomplete cast copper alloy plate brooch. It is circular in plan, with a small central perforation, incised circle and incomplete radial lugs. Part of the edge is damaged and missing. The reverse has a double lug for the missing hinged pin. There is no surviving evidence of a catchplate. It has a dark green patina, however much of the original surface is missing. The brooch has a diameter of 16.32mm, is 1.12mm thick increasing to 10.85mm thick at the hinge lugs. Weight 1.23 grams.

The upper surface has paired bronze dividers crossing at right angles and forming arms of a cross with a central circular cell.
