A copper alloy catch-plate fragment from a Roman brooch of first century date. The rest of the brooch is missing due to old breaks. The base of the bow is triangular in section, and the catch-plate flares out to a triangular plate, perforated with a circle above a triangle. The outer edge curves inwards to form a strong groove to hold the pin. The catch-plate measures 32.79mm in surviving length, 15.08mm in maximum width, and weighs 2.64g. A copper alloy Roman bow brooch fragment, Colchester type. The bow and wings are present, but the rest of the brooch is missing due to old breaks. The wings are short and flat, and there is a hook bent forward over the bow. The bow is rounded in profile, the foot is incomplete and only a small portion of the catchplate remains. Tiny spots of gilding can be seen on the upper bow. The brooch measures 42.62m in length, 9.87mm in width across the wings, and weighs 3.28g.

A copper alloy incomplete Roman bow brooch, Colchester type, 25-65 AD. Part of the spring coil, the pin and part of the catchplate are missing due to old breaks. The wings are short and flat, and the bow is unusually flat with only a slightly convex profile. It has a uniformly narrow, rectangular shape and is not curved. Three coils of the spring are visible to one side of the hook, which is bent forward on to the bow, and the rest is missing. A fragment of catchplate remains at the base of the bow. The brooch measures 13.45mm in width acros the wings, 44.03mm in length, and weighs 3.52g.

Early Roman cast copper alloy bow brooch fragment. Only the foot and catchplate survive. The catchplate is triangular. The foot has a trilobate cross section and terminates in a short cylindrical knop with a flat base and a groove around its circumference. The surviving section of the brooch is 14.45mm long, 10.19mm wide, 1.12mm thick across the catchplate, 2.72mm thick across the foot and the terminal knop has a diameter of 5.54mm and is 4.12mm long. It weighs 1.2 grams. It has an even, dark green patina.

Early Roman cast copper alloy colchester derivative brooch fragment. Only the upper section of the bow and wings survive, and these sections are worn and damaged. The surviving section of the bow is plain and undecorated, it has an oval cross section. The incomplete wings are rectangular with a slight recess on the reverse, where the pin fittings would have been located. The surface of the metal is pitted. It has a dark green patina. It is 10.03mm long, 15.54mm wide across the wings, the bow is 6.82mm wide, 5.83mm thick. It weighs 1.8 grams.
