A copper alloy globular knop from the wing of a developed 'onion-knobbed' Roman crossbow brooch. It is circular in plan, onion shaped in profile with a small projecting knop at the top and two moulded circumferential ridges at the base. The underside of the knop is flattened and has a central circular perforation for attachment probably to the wing of the brooch. The flat plate is perforated with a single triangular-shaped hole. There are traces of a white metal coating on the bow. The fragment measures 24.98mm in length, 10.68mm maximum width, and weighs 1.41g. The bow measures 2.95mm in width.

It is a hinged type, with the wings folded round to form cylindrical cases around the axis bar, and the pin is in situ, hinged in the centre. The wings are plain, and the bow is D-shaped, with a central rib on the shoulder. The brooch measures 27.99mm in width across the wings, 28.27mm in surviving length, and weighs 9.17g. It resembles an example from Hatcheston (Blagg 2004, p.64, no.116) but without the moulded decoration on the wings.

There is a perforation at the centre 2.8mm in diameter, surrounded by an incised line 8.15mm in diameter. There may be further small circles decorating the surface concentrically, but these are hard to distinguish from the wear marks. On the reverse is part of the catchplate mechanism for fastening a pin (missing). The brooch measures 28.32mm in diameter, 1.57mm in thickness and weighs 4.04g. A complete cast copper-alloy Roman Colchester derivative Polden Hill brooch. It has semi-cylindrical wings with flat oval shaped ends cast in one with the wings and pierced to hold in place the axis bar. The front faces of the wings have moulded vertical fluted decoration. At the centre of the wings is a rear facing hook that holds in place the copper-alloy spring chord. The spring itself has eleven coils from which extend the cylindrical wire pin that tapers to a sharp point. A very worn and incomplete cast copper-alloy Roman trumpet derivative brooch. The head and part of the bow survive, the remainder of the brooch now missing due to old breaks. It has a plain, undecorated trumpet shaped head with slight transverse groove visible at the top of the front face. On the reverse of the head is an integrally cast raised rectangular moulding with an incomplete circular aperture to one side that would originally have housed the now missing spring and axis bar. A copper alloy Roman bow brooch foot fragment. The bow is straight and D-sectioned with a raised rib running longitudinally down the centre, and the rest of the brooch is missing due to old breaks. The rib is decorated with two, fine incised lines. Traces of the catchplate remain on the reverse of the bow foot. The fragment measures 37.92mm in surviving length, 5.63mm in width, 4.1mm in thickness and weighs 3.47g. It may be part of a Colchester derivative brooch, the hinged types generally having a central rib on a D-sectioned bow. (see Hatcheston, fig. 64, nos 118, 120)

A copper alloy Roman bow brooch, Colchester derivative hinged type. It consists of most of the wings and upper bow only, the pin, axis bar and catchplate are missing. The wings are folded round to form a cylinder, on one side of the bow only, the other side is missing. There is moulding on the upper bow and incised lines running transversely around the wings. The bow is D-shaped. The brooch measures 31.75mm in surviving width across the wings, 25.14mm in surviving length, and weighs 6.46g.

A copper alloy Roman bow brooch fragment. It consists of the catch plate and base of the bow only, the rest is missing due to old breaks. The bow is plain and 2.7mm in width, with the triangular-shaped catchplate forming a frame for a large triangular perforation at its centre. There is a strong groove on the inside of the catchplate to accommodate the pin when the brooch was closed. It is likely to be part of a Colchester derivative type brooch. The fragment measures 16.12mm in surviving width, 26.19mm in surviving length, and weighs 2.08g.

A copper alloy Roman bow brooch fragment, probably a Colchester derivative hinged type. Only one wing and the upper bow survive, the rest is missing due to old breaks. The metalwork is worn and there is active corrosion product. The wing is cylindrical and the bow is rounded in section, the surfaces being too worn to ascertain the true dhape and thickness. The fragment measures 12.88mm in surviving width, 28.61mm in surviving length, and weighs 6.74g.
