A worn, incomplete Roman Colchester derivative double pierced lug bow brooch. It is missing the lower half of the bow, catchplate and pin, as well as the ends of the wings and part of one of the pierced lugs. The wings are semi-cylindrical in shape, slightly faceted but with no decoration. At the centre of the wings is the double lug. Half of the lower lug is missing due to old breaks and the upper lug contains the remains of the spring chord. The remains of the hinged pin can be determined at the centre of the wing case. A short length of upper bow survives. A fragment from an incomplete brooch, probably from a Roman Colchester derivative bow brooch of 1st century AD date. Only the lower part of the bow, the foot and catchplate survive, the remainder missing due to old breaks. The bow is very thin, D-shaped in section with a flat back and no apparent decoration. On the back face of the bow is the integral catchplate, which extends to the base of the foot, is sub-triangular in shape with curved pin slot and two circular perforations. This fragment measures 29.31mm in length, 2.95mm in width, and weighs 1.58g.

It consists of the bottom part of the bow which is D-shaped but becoming triangular towards it base, and a triangular-shaped catchplate. There is a large perforation in the centre, and the outer edge is folded in. The fragment measures 25mm in surviving length and is 12.15mm at its widest point. It tapers to 5.63mm at its foot and weighs 4.03g. It resembles examples illustrated from Hacheston in Blagg et al 2004, fig.64, nos.91 and 105.
