Roman cast copper alloy dolphin brooch, circa AD 40-100. One wing survives with a double pierced lug on the reverse. The sprung pin is missing. The bow is 'D' shaped in cross section. The foot and catchplate are missing. It is 42.01mm long, 17.38mm wide across the wings, and weighs 14.3 grams.The object has a mid green patina and its surface is pitted. There is light green corrosion product within the pits.

Roman copper alloy Adlocutio applied disc brooch. The brooch is copper alloy with a damaged and incomplete thin repousse plate. Only the lower half of the plate survies, however a large amount of the design is visible. A mounted figure is advancing toward three standard bearers. The horses forelegs are raised, and the main body of the horse is covered by a circular shield (For a more complete example of this design see Hattatt (1987) Brooches of Antiquity, page 193 plate 1 no 1080b). Roman (150-300AD) cast copper alloy disc brooch. The brooch is circular in plan. The upper surface of the brooch has two moulded concentric rings, which divides the surface into three zones. The outer zone of the brooch has traces of gilding. The reverse of the brooch has a single hinge lug, which has the corroded remains of an iron pin adhering to it. The catchplate is damaged and incomplete. The reverse of the brooch has the remains of a white metal coating. Roman cast copper alloy incomplete colchester two-piece alloy brooch. The incomplete wings are flat and rectangular in plan. There is an incomplete lug on the reverse of the wings, which would have secured the missing sprung pin. The curved bow has a worn rib along its length. There is a break at the foot of the bow. Roman cast copper alloy colchester two-piece derivative brooch. There is moulded vertical decoration on wings, and a central rib on bow. The catchplate is broken, and was possibly perforated. There is a double pierced lug on the reverse of the wings to secure the axis bar and chord of the (now missing) sprung pin. Length 42.81mm, Width 30.62mm (wings), thickness 17.31mm.

Roman cast copper alloy Colchester two-piece brooch. Only the head and upper part of the bow survive. The wings are rectangular in plan with a 'C' shaped cross section to partially incase the spring mechanism. There is a double pierced lug on the reverse of the wings, securing the 10 turned spring; the pin shank is missing. The bow is curved, with a notch at its apex and a pronouced rib running down its length, giving it a triangular cross section. The break is worn. it is 31.03mm long, 29.07mm wide, 13.63mm deep and weighs 10.70 grams.

An incomplete Roman copper-alloy lozenge-shaped continental series plate brooch dating to c. AD100-250.
Description: The brooch consists of a triangular shaped fragment with a trefoil head-plate at its tip. The front has a raised border with a flat lozenge shaped interior, in the centre of which is a circle marked out by a raised border. The cell of the circle is filled with red enamel. 2008 T663 Post-Medieval silver artefact
British Museum Report:
Silver artefact, cast, baluster shaped, with two terminals. On the back remains of two projecting knops at either end, perhaps originally for a brooch fitting, now missing. On the back also a maker's mark perhaps GM and a hallmark resembling a lion passant.
I am uncertain as to how to place this object. Its function or dating is unclear, but from the facture it would seem to me modern, almost certainly post 1709. Therefore, in all probability, this item is not Treasure as stipulated by the Treasure Act 19…

Early Medieval (possibly) cast copper alloy circular plate brooch. The upper surface appears to be undecorated, however the surface is quite rough, possibly the remains of attachment for a (missing) decorative plate. The reverse has an integrally cast pin lug, with a single piercing for the iron pin - iron corrosion surrounds the lug. The integrally cast catchplate is sub-rectangular with a worn break. The catchplate projects at a 90 degree angle to the hinge lug, and has a notch on one side where the pin would have been secured. 26.42mm diameter, 1.96mm thick. Weight 5.94 grams.

A medieval circular brooch.
Description: An incomplete medieval cast copper-alloy circular brooch of the East Anglian series dating to AD850-1000.
The brooch is sub circular in shape due to damage around the edges. It is flat and decorated with a sunken circle at its centre, around which is a raised lozenge shaped motif, the corners of which extend outwards into a double-strand ribbon which loops around itself to form a knot pattern.
