Roman cast copper alloy Colchester brooch. The spring and pin are broken off, and the backwards facing hook is damaged. The short flat-sectioned wings are undecorated. Sub-circular sectioned narrow, tapering, undecorated bow. The catchplate is missing. Much of the original dark green-brown surface is missing exposing dark green metal. Length 39.29mm, width of wings 9.83mm, width of top of bow 4.30mm, thickness c.11.5mm, weight 2.26g.

Six projections, catchplate on back of longest; catchplate & pin hinge both damaged. Hollow cast, con inside. Unusual Roman cast copper alloy plate brooch, probably 2nd century AD. Symmetrical flat sectioned brooch, with sub-circular central section with eight projections. The central section is decorated with a large punched ring and dot motif. Seven of the projections have a short neck with incurved sides, then an expanded rounded end decorated with a punched ring and dot. Six are roughly the same size, and the remaining one, which has the pin hinge on the reverse, is larger and with a wider neck (which hides the hinge). Roman copper alloy dolphin type brooch with spring mechanism. The spring and pin are both missing. Very corroded, no original surface remaining so very difficult to make out any detail although there appears to be a raised diagonal line on either side of the bow. Catchplate missing. Cast copper alloy Hod Hill type Roman brooch. The hinge for the pin is broken off, the pin is missing and the catchplate is damaged. One raised transverse moulding at the top of the bow, then four diverging longitudinal mouldings on the central triangular expanded area of the bow. There are two projections at each lower corner of the the triangle, one is bent towards the reverse. A fragment of a probable Colchester Two Piece brooch, of the Roman period dating from c. AD 43 - c. AD 100. Only the foot and the catch-plate remain of this brooch, the rest is missing presumed lost in antiquity. The bow is rectangular in plan and has a D-shaped cross-section and is not decorated, there is no foot knop.The catchplate is triangular in plan and protrudes at a right angle to the bow. A cast copper alloy Roman disc brooch with a flat and plain edge dating from c.80 AD to c.250 AD. The brooch is circular in plan and displays a six-pointed star or 'sunburst' pattern. The inside of the star is decorated with red enamel, while the outer field is decorated with black enamel. The surface of the brooch has been silvered or tinted. The reverse of the brooch is plain and undecorated but corroded and retains the lug for the spring. The spring remains as well as the pin which is bent. A complete copper alloy probable annular brooch or buckle fragment of the Medieval period, dating from c. AD 1250 - c. AD 1500. The object is broadly C shaped in plan and C shaped in section. A medieval silver gilt demi-gros of John II of Avesnes, the Count of Hainaut (AD 1280 - 1307), mint of Valenciennes. The coin has been re-used as a brooch or dress accessory with soldered attachments in the form of a hook and small loop on the obverse of the coin. An incomplete copper alloy Late Iron Age or early Roman rosette brooch. The object consists of winged head, a disc plate with projecting stud and a fantail. The winged head is decorated with small grooved lines which radiate from the edge of the plate. The disc plate is decorated with two concentric circular borders and a separate broken stud and attached spokes. A complete early medieval, Anglo-Saxon, copper alloy annular brooch, dating to c. AD 475 - 575. The frame is flat with a slightly chamfered edge on the inner and outer edges. The frame is circular, with a small constriction for the pin which is still in situ. The obverse is stamped with irregularly spaced ring and dot motifs. The reverse is plain. Similar to HAMP-1473BE. Diameter 19.1 mm, thickness 1.0 mm and weight 1.44 g.
