An incomplete copper alloy Hod Hill type brooch dating to the first century AD. The object has a central pentagonal plate which has a series of vertical grooves. From one side projects a sub-triangular area which is flat but may have been rolled to create a tube to hold the pin. At the opposite side of the brooch is a sub-rectangular projection which presumably would have extended to create the foot and catchplate. Between these two projections are knops. There are similar examples listed in Bayley and Butcher (2004: 70-72) who suggest a post-conquest 1st century AD date.
