An incomplete copper-alloy Roman T-shape brooch dating from the 1st - 2nd Century AD. Behind the head the tubular spring / pin mechanism survives but it is broken, complete with an iron axis bar. The pin is missing. The head is narrow and the wings are undecorated. There is a raised spine running down the front of the bow. The lower bow tapers to the foot, both the foot proper and catchplate survive, but are damaged. Similar to Hattatt, p302-3. Fig: 161-2.

An incomplete copper-alloy Roman Headstud brooch dating from the 2nd Century AD. Behind the head the tubular spring / pin mechanism survives in place, complete with an iron axis bar. The pin is missing. The head is angular and the wings have been decorated with two vertical incised lines, projecting out of the top of the head is a broken loop. The upper bow is sub-rectangular in section. There is a raised rounded stud on the arch of the bow. The lower bow tapers to the foot and foot proper and catchplate have broken off. Silver crossbow brooch, broken and somewhat distorted, with only the bow and part of the head intact. The bow is ovate in profile, trapezoidal in section, and is decorated with a single lengthwise groove. On the head is a conical shaped knob with flat disc below. An oval glass centre boss brooch. Deep black? (very dark) conical paste boss. Plate decorated with interlinked S punch marks around inner border, punched circles around outer.2 rope patterned ribs either side of inner border. Plain rib between outer patterned rib border and circle stamped border. Rim around outside face. Very well made, heavily gilded. Spring type G. c85% pin and most of catch-plate intact. Reverse tinned/gilded, now very dark brown colour.

Cast copper alloy knee brooch from the mid 2nd/mid 3rd century. The head is semi-circular (though broken) and behind this is an enclosure for the spring/pin (now missing). The bow is D-shaped in section and curves out into the 'knee'. This curves back and narrows, then widens slightly at the foot of the brooch. The only trace of the catchplate is a ridge running vertically along the foot.

Most of a cast copper alloy Romano-British dolphin brooch. The foot is missing, the fragment starting in the middle of the catchplate, which is triangular. The bow is circular in section, narrow towards the foot (ca 3mm diameter) and thickening considerably just at the head (to ca 9mm diameter), where it curves in sharply. The bow itself is completely plain but there is marked pitting along the spine. The head consists of 2 plain wings, circular in section, which held the pin mechanism. The pin is now missing, but the notch in the reverse of the head is still visible.

A cast copper alloy Romano-British headstud brooch. The foot is flat-bottomed, circular in section (6.1mm diameter) and decorated with a step in. The catchplate is triangular, joining the bow in a long concave curve, and is fairly small. The bow is 3.1mm wide where it joins the foot amd 7.7mm wide at the headstud. At the bottom it has a panel of 3 horizontal grooves. Along its main length it is decorated with a pattern of interlocking lozenge and triangle cells. Cast copper alloy circular brooch with four rounded projections, behind one of these projections and above the pin gear are the remains of a loop for a safety chain. The back of the brooch is slightly hollow and the pin gear and catch-plate remain. The decoration is of a geometric eight pointed star with triangular cells around a central round cell for coloured enamels. Each traingular cell has a central pellet. Some of the blue and orange enamelling remains intact.
