Copper alloy Roman umbonate brooch from the 2nd century AD. It is circular in plan with a central hollow raised dome which is 6mm high and 14mm in diameter. The rim around the outside has rounded protrusions at regular intervals. It is incomplete, over half of the rim around the central dome having broken off. It has enamel on the front set into small hollows. A lot of this is now missing. On the dome the decoration is in the shape of a six-petalled flower which was yellow and blue. Copper alloy T-shaped Roman bow brooch dating from c.70- 150 AD. It is incomplete, the bow having broken. It is a hinged type, the pin is missing but the wings are cylindrical and still hold the bar. The bow is slightly humped at the top and gets narrower as it goes towards the end. The upper bow is decorated with three moulded ridges with the grooves in between filled with enamel. Only orange remains in one of the depressions.

Cast copper alloy lozenge shaped plate brooch from the 2nd century AD. It is lozenge shaped in plan with a rounded projection at each point. It is a hinged type with the top of the pin still sitting in the hinge mechanism, although it has broken just after. The front has a raised edge with millefiori enamel filling it. Around half of the enamel is missing now but red, white and blue were used to create a chequer-board pattern. The red forms the lozenge shapes with diagonal lines, then inside each lozenge are alternating squares of white, blue and red.

The sun's rays are reduced to a geometric pattern of triangles, the outer circle having blue enamel, the inner alternating blue and red. A deep channel runs aruond just inside the perimeter. It has a central acanthus moulding with a knurled rib above and below. The bow has a rectangular cross section with a frontal central ridge. The foot knob is disc shaped with a central knurled rib.

Copper alloy oval Roman disc brooch dating to the 3rd-4th centuries AD (Bayley and Butcher; 2004; 178-9). It is a British type and is gilded with a central setting of black glass. Most of the gilding is still present but it is patchy. The central setting is domed and rises out of the front of the brooch into a point. There is a raised rim around the edge of the brooch and around the glass setting. It could have been hinged or sprung, the pin is missing. The loop for the pin to go through is present but the catchplate is missing.

The bow is hexagonal in cross-section. The remains of an iron bar can be seen within the wings. The wings are decorated either side of the head with two diagonal incised lines. Tail is a hooked fin with groove running down its back edge. Uncertain as to pin arrangement, lacks usual lug for hinged pin and catchplate. Two small appendages on either side of the base of the body towards the head-end may have been associated with the catch mechanism in some way. Shows slight overall wear but is generally in very good condition.

Hod Hill type brooch with lateral knobs. Rolled hinge with axis bar and fragment of pin present. Transverse moulding of wavy-line on panel above wide bow. The wide, tapering bow has a pair of knobs projecting laterally from the top. The bow has a central wavy-line panel and double ridges at either edge. Reversed S, bridge between snout of head and body, 'ears' decorated with red enamel, empty cells form the 'eyes' which were probably once filled with enamel. The body is decorated with a central rectangular cell infilled with orange enamel with a triangular cell infilled with blue enamel to either side, four further cells infilled with red enamel decorated the rest of the body. The pin is missing.
