Cast copper alloy trumpet brooch dating to c.75- 175 AD. It is mostly complete although the pin and catchplate have broken. The head has been bent to form a sharper angle than the usual curve of the bow. It is a hinged type with the axis bar being encased in an integral cylinder on the reverse of the head. There would have been a headloop formed from a continuation of the bar but it has broken before the loop, leaving just the horizontal strip on one side. Fragment of an early Roman copper alloy brooch, probably an Aucissa brooch. Only the lower half survives. The catchplate is triangular and the bow is very narrow, misshapen and undecorated. The bow curves out from the catchplate in a similar manner to an aucissa brooch, but then is damaged and bent more vertically than it should be. There is a small knop to either side at the top of the bow.

At the top is an integral suspension loop. In the centre of the bow is a circular boss with four lugs around the perimeter. The boss has a raised interior rim and a pellet of reserved metal in the centre. Surrounding the pellet is a recessed band that contains the remains of a yellow-light brown enamel. The surface of the brooch has been silvered or tinned.

A cast copper-alloy fantail brooch of the later 1st century. The brooch is nearly complete, missing only the shaft of the hinged pin, a small bit of which protrudes out of the slot in the head. The head is formed by two cylindrical arms rolled back, with no indication of a headloop. The bow is triangular in section and tapers to the fan-shaped foot (max width: 21.65mm). The foot has two raised triangular panels, which are also in copper-alloy rather than enamel. A triangular catchplate with a curled tip projects from the centre of the underside of the foot.

The brooch has a distinct upper panel with broken side wings and a central ridge running down the length. The lower panel has horizontal ridges and a footknob. The brooch is heavily corroded and missing the catchplate and the pin. A parrallel can be found in Bayley, J. and Butcher, S. (2004) Roman Brooches in Britain.

A cast copper-alloy -shaped brooch of the later 1st century, c 69-96. The brooch has cylindrical arms, hollow to take an axel with a vertical slot in the centre for the hinged pin. The bow is D-shaped in section and tapers from its peak at the head to a pointed base. The underside of the lower bow retains most of the catchplate, with only the hooked pin-rest missing.

Copper alloy brooch. Fragment of a cast composite trumpet brooch derivative, as identified by finder. An expanded bow with circular concavity indicates a two-piece construction; the fastening mechanism (now lost) was presumably engaged with this hollow. The upper bow is modestly expanded, and narrows to meet a heavily moulded group of three ridges; with the second and third ridges separated by a deep trough, as a dramatic departure from the mid-bow acanthus leaf decoration of the usual trumpet brooch type. A copper-alloy Roman brooch; a dolphin type dating from 43 - 65 AD. The spring, pin and foot of the brooch are missing. The humped bow is D shaped in section and tapers towards the foot. It has a raised ridge along the centre and similar ridges on each side. The wings are tubular and have similar raised ridges at each end. The front of the brooch has a shiny grey patina suggesting that the brooch had a white metal coating. The breaks are patinated. The design is similar to but smaller than number 889 on page 299 of Hattatt's Visual catalogue.

A copper-alloy Roman brooch; an Umbonate type dating from 100 - 250 AD. Only the domed centre part of the brooch survives, and none of the edge. It is decorated with a central circular cell surrounded by a ring of 14 small triangular cells, with an outer ring of fourteen large triangular cells. There is enamel surviving, but it has decayed and the original colours are not discernable. The metal has a light green patina. Compare number 128 on page 350 of hattatt's Visual catalogue.
