Bow and foot fragment of an Anglo-Saxon cruciform brooch. Some traces of tinning. Helen Geake writes: The image attached to this record is that of the bow and foot of a great square-headed brooch of Hines's Group XIX. It is especially close to that from Broughton Lodge (Hines 1997, pl. 77a). The classification field has therefore been altered to 'great square headed'.

Fragment of a cast copper alloy brooch, probable of part of a Great Square headed type. Early Anglo-Saxon, Decoration consists of two male faces. Anglo-Saxon, two fierce bearded faces. Traces of gilding. Toby Martin comments: While this could be a fragment of cruciform/great square-headed brooch hybrid (e.g. Hines Group XXI, the examples from Little Wilbraham and Kempston are good parallels), it could also be part of a standard great square-headed brooch head-plate, many of which feature similar decoration. Cross shaped fragment of a florid cruciform brooch, Anglo-Saxon. Traces of gilding. Helen Geake writes: The image attached to this record appears to show the inner panel from the footplate of a great square-headed brooch of Hines's Group XV, with a pair of S-shapes set to form a curly swastika. The same motif occasionally occurs on Kentish small square-headed brooches. The classification field for this record has therefore been changed to 'great square headed'.
