Lead alloy possible brooch fragment. Cast fragment from a flat plate with part of a relief design on its display face; three adjacent pellets of which one is larger than the others and a curved line above them with uncertain extensions and intersecting a cabled border. Patinated overall. This fragmentary motif might derive at its earliest, from a Viking-Age plate brooch displaying Christian symbols; or a cheap medieval brooch; or a pilgrim badge of an indeterminate cult centre - oriented as illustrated, the eye of faith might discern Christ hanging on the cross to be the subject. Lead alloy possible brooch. Cast oval object with a thickened rim or border on its putative display face and an off-centre hollow of diameter 9mm on the back. The field on the display face is now apparently plain. Lightly patinated and folded. Suggested date: Unknown, Early Medieval to Medieval, 850-1500.
Length (as found): 21.1mm, Height: 26.2mm, Thickness: 2.4mm, Weight: 14.63gms.
