Incomplete copper alloy one-piece Colchester brooch. The brooch has a spring of eight turns with an external chord secured at the top of the bow by a rearward hook. At the front of the spring are two narrow flat wings. The bow is comma shaped in profile and undecorated. The bow is D-shaped in cross-section and tapers to a pointed foot. The catchplate is damaged.

Incomplete copper alloy Polden Hill brooch of flat wing ends type. The brooch has semi-cylindrical wings in cross-section. There is a small hook at the top in the centre that would have secured the now missing spring and pin. The wing terminals are full-rounded and pierced. The front of the wings are decorated with a single vertical groove at either end. The bow is triangular in cross-section and decorated at the top with a 'V'-shaped groove and down the centre by a pair of incised lines. The foot is slightly flattened. The catchplate is intact.

A large, incomplete copper alloy Trumpet brooch. The brooch has a convex oval head with a lug in the centre of the reverse that would have secured the spring. The spring and pin are missing. The bow is comma shaped in profile, S-shaped in cross-section and decorated with a fully rounded acanthus reel. The foot terminates with a reel. The catch-plate is intact.

It has been cast solid, with an integrally cast lug and catchplate. No pin remains. The plate is circular in plan, and has a raised inner circle. A cast copper-alloy (probably brass) birdlip-type brooch of the early Roman period, dating to the 1st century. The brooch is incomplete, missing the spring-pin and most of the catchplate and foot. The solid head is slightly trumpet-shaped with a medial ridge and raised semi-circular panels along the sides. The base of the head has a transverse disc with a moulded collar above and below it, and the hooked 'beak' typical of the type below the disc. The bow is X-shaped in section, with an openwork catchplate emerging at the bottom of the bow.

A cast copper-alloy Hod Hill type brooch of the early Roman period, dating to the mid 1st century. The brooch is incomplete, missing the head as well as the pin, with only the bow remaining. The bow has a square upper panel ribbed, but with no evidence of lugs. Below are three, perhaps four cross mouldings, with the bow tapering toward the footknob. There is a raised band of cross moulding just above the footknob. Most of the catchplate remains, except for the hook. There is no evidence for tinning.

A copper alloy Roman dolphin brooch dating from AD 55 - 100. The brooch has no foot and a small catch plate. The design on the bow is very simple with three grooves and a long plain cylinder for the wings. It has a hinge mechanism and the pin is absent. It has a deep brown, black hue. It measures 50.7mm x 33.9mm x 15mm, weighing 12.33g. For similar example see 'A visual catalogue of Richard Hattatt's ancient brooches' p.299, no.889.

Cast copper alloy enamelled plate brooch. The brooch is flat, circular and has ten peripheral lugs. The face is decorated with two concentric circles and pellets formed out of reserve metal. The recessed fields between contain enamal. The outer band contains green enamel; the inner contains brown and the dot within the inner circle also contains brown. Between the two fields are six pellets of reserved metal set in a circle. The reverse contains a lug with a broken spring, and a catchplate. The spring is missing. This type of brooch is distinctively Romano-British.
