Incomplete cast copper alloy Polden Hill brooch of flat wing ends type. The brooch has semi-cylindrical wings in cross-section containing a spring of 13 turns, held in the centre by a small integral hook. The wing terminals are fully rounded and pierced. The face of the wings are decorated at either terminal with a shallow vertical groove. A copper alloy Roman dolphin brooch dating from AD 55 - 100. The brooch has no foot and a small catch plate. The design on the bow is very simple with three grooves and a long plain cylinder for the wings. It has a hinge mechanism and the pin is absent. It has a deep brown, black hue. It measures 50.7mm x 33.9mm x 15mm, weighing 12.33g. For similar example see 'A visual catalogue of Richard Hattatt's ancient brooches' p.299, no.889.

Cast copper alloy enamelled plate brooch. The brooch is flat, circular and has ten peripheral lugs. The face is decorated with two concentric circles and pellets formed out of reserve metal. The recessed fields between contain enamal. The outer band contains green enamel; the inner contains brown and the dot within the inner circle also contains brown. Between the two fields are six pellets of reserved metal set in a circle. The reverse contains a lug with a broken spring, and a catchplate. The spring is missing. This type of brooch is distinctively Romano-British.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy disc brooch dating from the Roman period. Length: 50.2mm; width (diameter): 39.7mm; depth: 10.2mm; mass: 16.9g. The brooch is sub-circular in plan, with an incomplete lug at the top and a moulded foot at the base. The front on the circular plate is flat with no decoration visible. A copper alloy Roman dolphin brooch. This brooch has a hinge mechanism. Its wings (left one damaged) are decorated with transverse grooves at the ends. The head also has grooves on it, which run over the head and all the way down the bow to the grooves of the foot. There are three pairs of grooves (sides and middle) with transverse lines running the length between each pair. The brooch has a green patina and measures 59.1mm x 35.1mm x 18.6mm, weighing 29.81g.
