Silver Brooch fragment (as identified by finder). A cast openwork plate of curvilinear or floral style, with crude decoration of stamped dots and incised lines emphasising the design. A horizontal scar on reverse may indicate position of a fastening (now lost). Hallmarked on reverse: anchor, lion left, K, probably for Birmingham, 1959. Suggested date: Modern.

Copper alloy Brooch. A cast openwork brooch with the stub of the setting for a swivelling pin and a loop to engage its point on the reverse. The design comprises three open diamond shapes or rhomboids linked by a pair of elongated ovals, the effect resembling a simple knot. Tiny pellets flank the junction of ovals and rhomboids, and part of a setting remains to suggest a stone occupied the larger central rhomboid. Patches of black lacquer or paint survive at both ends. Suggested date: Modern, 1800-1900. Length: 44.6mm, Width: 12.0mm, Thickness: 1.8mm, Weight: 1.89gms.

Pressed metal setting for a stone (now lost), comprising a denticulated frame, possibly heart-shaped, with the remains of about ten smaller settings projecting from its edge. From the appearance of the largest of these settings, they too held small stones. Suggested date: Modern, 1850-1950. Length (as found): 18.4mm, Width: 15mm, Thickness: 1.1mm, Weight: 0.74gms.

White Metal and Glass Brooch. Cast brooch with stub of a hinged pin and a complete catch-plate knop on the reverse. The brooch forms a flattened V-shape vaguely resembling outspread wings with a raised field on each, and has a plano-convex ruby glass gem set at their union as a boss within a collared setting. The Art Nouveau effect depends largely on the graceful lines of the piece which may suggest a Late Victorian or Edwardian date. Suggested date: Modern, 1890-1920. Copper alloy and shell. Probable Brooch fragment, from costume jewellery. Rectangular frame of pressed metal of thickness 0.6mm with a hollow cylindrical knop at each end, and with three rings of diameter 4mm attached to its lower bar; the latter presumably attached either further decorative pendant elements (now lost), or perhaps the means of attachment. Though Renaissance in ornament-style, it appears to be a modern cast, and thus dateable post-1706. As such, this object does not qualify as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.

Silver and copper alloy brooch. Cast silver square section ring (1.75-2.1mm square) with fastening gear behind comprising a hinge for the pin (lost) and a wire loop opposite, with a pressed copper alloy concavo-convex badge fitted tightly into the ring. The ring has butted ends and may have been crimped about the badge, which was presumably also soldered in place. White metal brooch. Oval-ended commemorative brooch. The back is hollow with a prominent rim, and there are three knops on its upper side. The occasion marked was the Bar Mizvah of the recipient. Applied decoration to the front comprises a ring of simple floral forms, and a label set aslant reading: MIZPAH. Further affixtures may be lost from the opposite end.
