Cast cooper alloy Dolphin brooch. Roman. 1st -2nd century AD. The wings are 15mm wide with circular ends, 5mm in diameter, creating a box for the spring to rest. 7 turns of the spring are still in place. the pin is missing. A comma-shaped bow, 8mm wide at the head and 32mm long. Blunt at the end where the tip is probably missing. No catchplate. Type 94 in Crummy, 1983.

Cast cooper alloy Dolphin brooch with hinge mechanism. Roman. 1st -2nd century AD. The wings are 19mm wide 3mm in diameter, creating a closed box for the axial bar to fit. A vertical slot for the pin to fit round the axial bar is placed centrally at the back of the wings. The pin is missing. A comma-shaped bow, 8mm wide at the head and 42mm long. The bow is flat at the back, making it almost triangular in section. The bow tapers down to a point. The catchplate runs 16mm up the back of the bow from the tip. Type 94 in Crummy, 1983. Large cast copper alloy Trumpet brooch. Roman. 1st - 2nd Century AD. A heavily corroded bow of a trumpet brooch. The wide, trumpet element of the head is missing/corroded away. The rounded central part of the head is 10mm wide, tapering down towards the foot, which has a slight knob and is 4.5mm wide. At the curve of the bow is a button, or collar, which is 14mm wide and 5mm thick. There is a groove above and below the collar. Cast copper alloy T-shaped bow brooch. Roman. 1st - 2nd Century AD. The wings are 16mm wide with circular ends 4mm in diameter to create an open box for the axial bar and spring to fit. The spring is 80% present, with 7 turns still surviving in place. The bow is plain and is broken horizontally after 15mm. It is rectangular in section. A central ridge provides the hole through which the spring is secured. The ridge is 15mm long, running down the bow from the head. It ends with a raised knop.

A large cast brooch with no coil or spring extant, but part of a backward facing hook evident on the juncture between head and bow. The bow has 3 deep longitudinal grooves running from a small triangular 'crest' at the head end down the length of the tapering bow to the foot end, the two outer grooves are decorated with rope-work moulding. An incomplete cast copper alloy Colchester derivative, rear hook brooch of Roman date (AD 45-60). The brooch has wide, tubular arms with recessed ends and a diagonal moulded, feature on each wing. The arms of the brooch are hollow to facilitate the axis bar which would have supported the hinged pin only a small spur of which is retained. The bow is sub-rectangular in section and the foot is double stepped and semi-circular. The catchplate is sub-triangular and integral however the recurved portion is missing due to an old abraded break. The metal has a dark green with a slightly pitted patina.
