A corroded, incomplete and damaged small cast copper-alloy Roman brooch of the 1st-century Hod Hill type, Hattatt's Class B (with side knobs/lugs). The head has been lost, along with the axis bar and pin. The main body of the brooch is broadly rectangular in shape and has pair of knobs, one either side, lower, both now abraded and broadly rounded. The upper surface of the bow is decorated with longitudinal grooving. Grooving appears to continue in the side knobs. Below the main body is a junction element before the foot begins. Roman cast copper-alloy zoomorphic Roman plate brooch in the form of a bird in flight dating to the 2nd century AD. It has a complete tail, one wing 75% missing, the other damaged and old damage to the head and hinge on the reverse. This brooch type, discussed by Hattatt (1987, 227-8), have flat bodies and spread wings, a triangular tail, a plain neck and head rising high from the plane of the brooch (max. H. here: 6.8mm) and a wide rib along the back and usually enamelled decoratiion and a chain loop at the tail.

Incomplete Roman (AD 50 – 150) tinned copper alloy T-shaped brooch with tubular wings and a hinged mechanism, missing the lower bow and catchplate and the pin. It measures 25.04mm in incomplete length and weighs 4.6g.
The wings are 23.95mm wide and the axis bar is still visible in the U-shaped cut for the (missing) pin. The wings are decorated to the front with four transverse ribs, flanking either open end. A slightly corroded fragment from a cast copper-alloy Roman bow brooch, possibly a 1st-century Hod Hill type. The fragment consists of the leg and lower part of the bow. From the leg the sides of the surviving bow fragment incurve. It is decorated on its upper surface by three longitudinal grooves creating two internal ridges. The flat leg is of sub-triangular form, tapering down to a terminal knob (from a width of 11.1mm). The catchplate is sub-trapezoidal and survives well with only the catch itself cracked and abraded. A large and elaborate cast copper-alloy Roman brooch of the Hod Hill type (max. H.: 26.6mm). The solidly cast brooch is incomplete, missing its pin, but apart from some slight damage survives well.
The head terminates in a cylinder formed by rolling the terminal back round on itself (W.: 15.7mm). This is slightly abraded uppermost but retains the corroded remains of the iron axis bar in both halves either side of the central pin slot. Roman cast copper alloy Colchester Two-piece brooch, complete apart from the pin and part of the spring, this type dates to the middle of the 1st century c.40-60 AD. The brooch head has wide wings, 21.5mm across, which are semi-circular in cross section and decorated on the top with four pairs of raised collars, one pair at the end of each wing, one near the centre. A complete cast copper-alloy Roman knee brooch (c. 2nd century AD). At the head is semicircular plate (W.: 10.6mm) with two circular perforated end-plates (Dia.: c. 6.0mm). Protruding from the centre of the front of the head is a rectangular tab terminating in a small chain loop, now abraded through. Surviving between the plates is a copper-alloy axis bar. A fragment of a cast copper alloy Roman Brooch of Langton Down type, Nertomarus sub-type, dating to the first century AD. The fragment comprises the head which has decoration in the form of a moulded collar at the bow, from which emerges an inverted triangle with three incised dots, flanked by scrolls, with trefoils of dots underneath. A Roman T-shaped brooch with an incomplete head loop.. The lower part of the bow is missing but the pin is intact. There is a moulded ridge down each side of the bow which has a panel of four lozenges (blue enamel) with a triangle on either side (possibly red enamel). The reverse is hollow.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy Roman plate brooch of the gilded glass centre-boss type. The brooch is circular, with a raised border and raised circle within. At its centre is an even higher circular setting with a raised punched ring at its centre; the glass 'jewel' is now missing.
