Possibly a Victorian copper-alloy brooch, pin and spring coils missing. It was possibly worn as a choker on the front part of a high-necked collar (?). The basic shape is that of a Maltese cross; a rectangular-cut gemstone was set in the centre of the brooch, but it is missing today. It was not of very high quality.

Copper alloy decorative broach, probably dating to the post medieval period. The broach is in the shape of a thisle, with a central point at the top, and two pointed spikes slighly further down at either side. Underneath these spikes at the end of the lozenge shaped body two protruding curved cresent shaped features at either side, which are meant to represent leaves. This leads to the stem which is Z shaped, and narrow. Throughout the body of the broach are round indentations, which would have originally contained semi-precious stones. There is also lines breaking up these round inden…

Post medieval copper alloy circular brooch or buckle frame fragment. Probably from a penannular brooch. It is predominantly semi circular in section. The curved side is plain. The 'flat' side has a central rib with two heart shaped protuberances. These 'hearts' are two out of an original four set at quarters around the original circle. The points of the hearts point inward. The style appears to be Arts & Crafts/Celtic Revival and this would date it to between c1860 and c1910 AD. Length 51mm, width 5mm, and thickness 5mm.

A late Post Medieval to early Modern silver or white metal penannular brooch. Overall it is an open circle in plan and the pin is missing. Punched leaf decoration to all elements of the artefact and no evidence of a hallmark. The hollow construction and form of the terminals, favour a construction date in the late 19th century to early 20th century. Possibly an Arts & Crafts or Gothic Revival inspired object that was never intended for sale so never assayed. Dates from c1850 to c1940 AD. Approximate dimensions are diameter 55mm, thickness 7mm, and weight 25g. The weight may incl…

Probably the fragment of a cast copper alloy brooch or buckle pin dating from the late medieval or late post-medieval period, i.e. c. AD1200-1700. The pin is flat and has a rectangular cross-section which suggests that it is a buckle pin rather than a brooch pin which are usually circular in cross-section. The very end of the pin looks broken but worn so it may have carried some damage in antiquity already. The other side is bent into a loop, but half of it is broken off, which is probably how it was lost.

A gilded copper alloy brooch or possibly a mount. A sub square centre section with four knops projecting from each of the corners via a short triangular stem. The central cast design is set in a circular dished depression, and consists of a many petalled (ten) flower with a futher flower motif in the centre of this, set above the larger flower. The raised border of the dished area is decorated with small pellets. The design is reminiscent of a Tudor rose. There is no apparant decoration on the knops. The whole has been gilded, of which much remains. There is an iron mount survivin…

A complete silver annular brooch. The brooch is complete although twisted and folded, and appears to have been cut or stamped from a blank. It is made from thin silver, approximately 0.5mm thick, and 6mm wide. The hole for the pin has been crudely punched from the back of the brooch, the end of the pin is looped through this to secure it. The pin is pointed at the termination. The brooch is plain apart from a mark punched into the back that may be a hallmark or initials - shown in the inset of the image. It looks like a very elaborate I or L, and H, or possibly W and D. …
