Silver annular frame, pinked backplate with raised inner wall protecting decorated section of the mount. Around the open centre is an openwork, continuous ring made up of spiralling filigree ornament with bosses. The backplate plain but punched on the rim with two holes; one torn open. Signs of wear. This would appear to be a complete silver-gilt annular brooch frame with the small pinhole for the pin, now missing. The filigree spirals and knops, and the pinked backplate, resemble decoration on 16th C dress fittings and this may be of a similar date. It resembles a brooch-frame from…

Circular gilded copper alloy disk, probably a brooch. The rim is curved over slightly, the edges are rough but appear complete. Both sides have a raised ring running round the edge near the circumfrence, a central raised pellet and traces of gilding. The raised pellet on one side seems broken from an old break although this may just be corrosion. On the other side (the side where the rim is bent upwards) the pellet seems complete; on this side there is also a curved hook to one side, possibly the catch for a brooch pin now bent flat with the plate. The brooch is 19.2mm in diameter, 1.6…

Post Medieval or modern openwork brooch. Comprised of two copper alloy wires twisted into a figure of eight pattern with overlying curves, possibly representing two intertwined snakes due to engravings on the surface. The brooch is green-grey in colour due to corrosion, and some traces of gilding can still be seen. The brooch is 37mm long and 18mm wide at the widest point.

A Post-Medieval silver brooch; consisting of a slightly asymmetrical heart-shaped frame, d-shaped in section and separate pin, sub-rectangular in section. One end of the pin is bent into a loop, used to attach it to one side of the heart, the other terminates in a dull point which extends beyond the opposite side of the heart. The pin is bent just below the point of attachment. A small crown rests above the heart, with either side attached to the apex of the heart's 'lobes'. A small gap exists between the bottom of the crown and the valley between the 'lobes' of the heart. On the reve…

A fine yet distorted silver annular brooch of probable Early Post Medieval date (c. 1500 AD - c. 1700 AD). Description: The circular hoop is convex on the front and flat on the rear. There is as a constriction for pin. The tapering silver sheet pin has limited decoration in the form of two incised lines near the constriction on the hoop. The loop has a stamped 'H' in a semi-circle on one side, with the initials 'AM' scratched into the metal on the opposite side, presumably the owner. The outer edge of the brooch has been bevelled. The brooch has been slightly distorted and squashed…
