The item is leaf shaped with scalloped edges. The upper surface has a series of punched dots within each scallop. As an inner border there is an incised line forming a leaf shape. Inside there are two holes. Gilding covers the surface of the item. On the upper surface the gilding does not cover a central leaf-shaped portion of the brooch. The has an oval shaped mounting point at either end of the item. These mounting points suggest a type of soldering has occurred.

The frame is plain and circular in section. The diameter of the frame appears to vary slightly. There is a gap in the frame which has slightly expanded terminals. It is uncertain whether the frame was originally annular and the gap was the joins. The pin has an integral loop and is also circular in section which tapers to a point. The item does not have a patina instead the surface is a matt brown colour. There is a very small patch of a green patina.

A copper alloy post-medieval twisted wire brooch. The brooch is oval in shape with twisted wire interlacing to create 5 horizontal lines and one central vertical line. On the back of the brooch, at each end there is some residue remaining. This would suggest that it had a pin mechanism attached. The length of the brooch is 48.7mm and the width is 32.1mm.
