A complete sterling silver brooch hallmark Birmingham 1942-3. The brooch bears the insignia of the 8th Kings Royal Irish Hussars but additionally has a clasp in the form of a riding crop. This addition and being sterling silver would suggest that this is a sweetheart brooch worn in memory of a soldier of the regiment fighting in World War II. The regiment was retitled as the 8th King's Royal Irish Hussars in 1921, and was transferred to the Royal Armoured Corps in 1939.
