Part of the bow and foot of a copper alloy brooch of early Anglo-Saxon date. The bow is flattened with a slightly convex upper surface and a small flat panel above and below. The flat panel of the foot survives, with transverse groove decoration; there is a stub of catchplate on the reverse. Old breaks. The object is 26mm long, 7mm wide, 5mm thick and weighs 2.34g.
Not enough survives to determine whether the brooch was of cruciform type (with a horse's head terminal) or a small-long (with another form of terminal). It dates to the mid 5th to mid 6th century.

Description
The object is complete. It is a circular silver disc of diameter 27-30 mm and thickness < 1 mm. Although described as a 'brooch' there is now no sign of any fitting or fastening. The disc is complete and largely undamaged although there is some discolouring on both face and back. The back of the disc is plain but contains some scratches.
The face of the disc contains a central, equal-armed cross; it has a circle in the middle containing a pellet and each arm meets the circular margin on a tri-partite base. The margin is…

A copper alloy zoomorphic footplate terminal from a small early Anglo-Saxon cruciform brooch. The tip of the terminal is in the form of a flattened, expanded, almost circular 'snout'. Behind this the head broadens out with two circular eyes in relief at the lateral edges. Behind the eyes the head narrows again with two raised transverse bands across the neck. Behind this the terminal has a rough, patinated break through an ancient repair (a circular rivet hole) with iron staining around, almost certainly from an iron rivet. No traces remain of a pin or catchplate. There is a deep holl…

A copper alloy zoomorphic terminal from an early Anglo-Saxon cruciform brooch of 'Klapperschmuck' (literally 'rattle-jewellery) type. The object has a great likeness to a standard early narrow cruciform-brooch horse-head terminal (c. 430 - 480 AD) but the end of the horse's nose is unusual. From above, the tip of the terminal is parallel-sided with a central and two lateral raised ribs. In side view this part of the object is circular in section and is apparently pierced transversely by a 2mm diameter hole which is still filled with soil. Behind the end of the nose is a slightly raise…

A copper-alloy zoomorphic terminal from an early Anglo-Saxon cruciform brooch. The tip of the footplate terminal is in the form of a flattened, sub-triangular 'snout', the surface of which is plated with a silver or tin sheet. Behind this the head broadens out with two eyes at the lateral edges connected with a lower ridge, which appear flattened from above and circular in lateral view. Behind the eyes the head narrows again to a very unusual decorative raised square plate bearing four equally-spaced small square sunken panels with the remains of inset gilding.
