Incomplete copper alloy Middle to Late Saxon disc brooch of dating to the period c.AD 800 - 1000. The edge of the disc is heavily abraded. An old break has removed approximately 10% of the total along the upper edge. The front exhibits a zoomorphic motif consisting of a quadruped advancing left, its head turned back over its shoulder and a tail that curves upwards, terminating at an old break. Each foot divides into three or four claw-like projections. A series of triangular projections run from the top of the head, down the back of the neck to the front feet, possibly indicating …

A cast lead alloy Anglo-Saxon button brooch dating from AD 450-550. The brooch has a distinct face mask on the front. The rim of the brooch is now crished and distorted, while the reverse retains only the two projections for the pin and the catchplate. There is no trace of the pin or any corrosion or staining that may have been associated with an iron or copper pin. Although there are many examples of Anglo-Saxon brooches in lead, such as disc brooches, this is only the second button brooch in lead recorded on the database (the other being KENT-156313). It is possible that lead alloy …

Late Anglo-Saxon brooch made from cast lead. The face bears a motif consisting of a triqueta, its three arms made up of two raised lines their ends terminating in pairs of opposed scrolls surrounding pellets. In the centre of the disc is a single pellet and, around its edge, is a ring of pellets. The brooch is crushed and no trace of remains of the pin and clip. On the back of the brooch is a series of scratches which could, with the eye of faith, be interpreted as the stern of a ship, with two steering oars a mast and a yard.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy Anglo-Saxon/Early-Medieval long brooch, probably a small-long brooch. It is missing the outer edges of the headplate, the base of the foot and the pin due to old breaks. The headplate is flat, currently D-shaped in form although missing its outer edges due to old breaks and post-depositional wear. It appears undecorated but has extensive corrosion and pitting. Extensive iron corrosion on the back face of the headplate indicates the presence of a pn lug and incomplete iron pin. Extending from the base of the headplate is the bow, which is rectangular in …

These form probable interlace flanking a longitudinal rib, and running onto the angled terminal. The surviving length is 16mm and it measures 14mm in width amd 7mm in thickness. The decoration suggests a continental provenance, possibly Carolingian. It may be compared with examples of notche…

Due to a lack of contextual evidence it is not possible to date this object, so a precise date for this object can not be guaranteed as it is rather fragmentary and undiagnostic.
