Late Early Medieval or early Medieval pewter disc brooch. The brooch is circular and is decorated similar to the reverses of the coins of William II, specifically the 'cross-voided' type (circa 1092-1095). The decoration comprises a voided cross pattee with annulet in centre over a cross annulettee. Instead of a legend there is a perimeter of hatches. The reverse of the brooch has two crescent-shaped lugs each with a hole through the centre aligned with a slightly concave channel. The pin mechanism is missing. A complete but worn copper alloy detachable knob probably from an Anglo-Saxon cruciform brooch, perhaps from the side rather than top of the brooch. The knob has a terminal end that is semi-circular in section with an exterior surface that appears to have triangular faceting. Beneath the terminal the knob is waisted with a slight groove above and below. The attachment end is circular in shape and has a single incised groove that runs circumferentially around the outer face. The underside of the knob is flat and has a slot accross one end. A fragment of a cast copper alloy and gilded object, probably part of a miniature square-headed brooch of Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) date (c. AD 500 – c. AD 600). Length: 8.6mm; width: 7.5mm and 1.9mm thick. Weight: 0.49g. This is probably the lower part of the foot of a miniature square-headed brooch. At the front moulded decoration is in the form of a raised central sub-square shape enclosed by a raised square frame. The rear face is flat and pitted due to corrosion. Traces of gilding are visible at the front only. There is no evidence for burning or melting.

Anglo-Saxon coin-brooch. The object is a silver penny of Edward the Confessor (1042-66), of the Hammer Cross type, c. AD 1060, which has been mounted as a brooch or badge. The original coin was minted in Thetford, probably by the moneyer Godlef, although the secondary treatment of the coin means that most of the inscription is no longer legible, with only __FONÐET__, from the middle of the reverse inscription clearly legible. The reverse of the coin, showing a cross, has been gilded for display, and five holes have been pierced in the coin, one in the centre and one at the end o…

An incomplete gilded copper-alloy nummular brooch of late early-medieval date (11th century AD). Perhaps two-thirds of the artefact survives, bent; only a limited section of the circumference is extant. This is effectively a repoussé disc brooch, decorated unifacially with a design raised up from below. The design is that of a crowned, bearded and ?draped bust facing right, with a sceptre to the right, all within a beaded border. Between the border and the surviving circumference are the letters '?EDAA?', with a faint beaded border towards the circumference. The brooch seems to be im…

The foot of a copper-alloy Anglo-Saxon florid cruciform brooch. A short section from the base of the foot survives, including an elaborate Style I human-head terminal. The remainder of the brooch is missing due to old breaks. Late early-medieval cast Borre-style disc brooch. Decoration of concave-sided lozenge with each of the four corners extended to form interlaced, double-contoured knots. On the reverse is a rectangular scar from the missing catch-plate or pin lug and a small probably accidental perforation at the opposite edge. It has a central vertical ridge with a circular boss in the middle. Chip carved decoration is present on either side of the central ridge though corrosion and dirt obscure the details of the pattern which is in Anglo Saxon Style I animal art style.
