A cast copper-alloy equal-armed brooch of early-medieval (Anglo-Saxon) date (5th/6th century AD), incomplete only in that it is missing its pin. The flat arms are both triangular with rounded knops at each corner. One, at 18.55mm, is slightly longer than the other, at 16.05mm. The faceted bow that joins the arms curves in a shallowly raised arc. The diagonal sides of the arms are decorated on their upper surface with punched annulets. The lower surface is plain, and features a sub-trapezoidal catch-plate on one arm adjacent to the bow, and a broken D-shaped pin lug on the other, again…

An incomplete cast copper alloy button brooch of Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) date (c. 500-50), missing its pin and possibly part of the pin lug. In plan, the brooch is circular and has an upturned rim giving the plate the depth of 2.08mm. The rim, damaged and missing in one place, flares outwards at an angle of about 135°. The upper surface of the brooch is decorated with a central chip-carved anthropomorphic forward facing mask. The 'helmet' (or possibly hair) consists of two triangles, their outer edges following the curve of the inside of the rim, either side of a central narro…

A fragment of an early early-medieval gilded copper alloy brooch or mount, dating to c. 500-650. Of probably original circular form, all that remains of the object is a central boss and part of the external edge. There is no trace of a fixing mechanism to the reverse, which has a rough surface but is otherwise flat. All breaks are old. To the front of the object there is a raised concentric rib around the boss. Between this and the edge of the object is a raised interlace design, perhaps zoomorphic in context. A curving trio of strands centrally situated appear to end in toes close t…

An incomplete copper-alloy early early-medieval (450-600) cruciform brooch, missing its pin and with damage to the catch-plate. The brooch features a flat roughly rectangular (though its dimensions are not regular) headplate. There are three cylindrical knobs (D-shaped in cross-section, being flat to the reverse) one each extending from centre of respectively the top, right and left of the headplate (at 12, 3 and 9 o'clock, when the brooch is oriented head uppermost). The front of the headplate is undecorated. The bow is in the form of a short, sharp arch which extends from the bottom…
