The loops are decorated with multiple applications of small crescentic stamps and have a groove running down the length of the wider part. The length is 20.9mm, the width is 32.8mm, thickness is 2.2mm and the weight i…

A cast copper-alloy ansate brooch, with an arched back with an equally sized fan-shaped terminal on either end. The arched back of the brooch is decorated with three prominent ridges. Below the terminals there is a catchplate on one side and a double lug on the other. The remains of an iron pin can also been seen, but is heavily corroded. Ansate brooches are in origin a Frankish type, used in France from the 7th century onwards. They do not appear in England until the 8th century, and they appear to go out of use in the 10th century.

Incomplete gilded copper-alloy strip brooch of Weetch's type 31.C. It is lozenge-shaped, slightly longer than wide, with one of the narrower, more pointed corners now missing and the metal at the break bent. The opposite corner has two or three rivets which would originally have attached a separate pin. From the photo, the material of the rivets is uncertain; there is iron corrosion around, especially on the reverse, and it is possible either that the rivets are of iron or that they attached a pin made from iron. There is also a circular hole neatly cut through the decoration at one o…
