An incomplete early medieval copper alloy cruciform brooch, dating to AD 450-600. The brooch consists of a square head-plate with irregularly shaped wings on either side. Ontop of the head is a domed knop with moulded collar. The brooch has an arched bow with faceted corners, slightly concave on the back. The brooch is broken below the arched bow. On comparison with other examples the bow would have extened much further, ending in a decorative foot. On the reverse of the head-plate is evidence of an iron spring pin, only reddish-brown corrosion product remains. There is a linear decor…
