Lead pseudo-coin brooch based on the Aethelred II last small cross type (minted 1009-1017). Circular and 26 mm in diameter, it is now bent around the edges. In the centre is a small relief cross made from four distinct wedges; around this is a plain relief circle, then the legend within an outer border of pellets. The legend reads + T M A O P P - - - N A O (the T may be a second cross; the P shapes are reversed; part of the legend is missing). The legend may be derived from + MA [NIE ON NOR] HA (Manna of Norwich, the moneyer) but it is too blundered to be certain. On the reverse is an…

Small-long brooch, missing the terminal to the foot. The head consists of a central square plate, decorated with two vertical rows of crescentic stamps which continue the line of the bow edges upwards. The stamp used appears to be rather crude and the rows are irregular. The headplate is worn, and four stamps in each row can clearly be seen, although there are hints of others running right up to the edge of the square plate. On three sides of the square central plate are large flat mushroom-shaped knobs, with cut-out curves making the 'stems'. The total width of the headplate is 4…
